It is now four weeks to the day since I was fingerprinted, the last step in the processing required before the paperwork is sent to Mexico City, where the hard cards are prepared.

According to the lists posted in the window of INM, Cancun, my card has not yet been delivered from Mexico City. Given the fact that I was applying on the basis of points, I anticipated the possibility of delay in Mexico City.

On Wednesday, next week, I'll go to check to see if the paperwork was, in fact, forwarded to Mexico City. I don't believe in sitting back in any matter of this personal importance, but to be diligent in pushing the matter forward insofar as I can.

    hi V,

    I had one process 2 years ago - fm3 renewal - that took 3 1/2 months.

just signed up on cancuncare forum & made it up to this posts so far,
it's like reading a thriller ... looking forward to the next chapter.
hope I'll read soon, that you made it all the way to a successful end. :icon_lol:

so you have done all you had to do,
    your permanente r. was approved
& now you just wait for the card / document from d.f., right?
    congratulations, :icon_lol: unless I misread it.:blueshock:

You got that right, wait...and wait....

They post lists up of the cards they get back from D.F., but it´s been awhile since they got a shipment. I´ll check again Friday.

INM may decide that they are going to have to give this task back to the local offices: I can´t imagine what it must be like for those in D.F. who have to process all these requests, coming as they do from all over the country.

V, you'll be pleased to know I handed in my photos and had my fingerprints done a week ago. I'm now waiting for my card to arrive too and was told 3 weeks. We'll see.

Happy that this time I only had to physically go to the office once (to give fingerprints and signature), I was there about 40 minutes. When my card does arrive Mauricio will pick it up and drop it off at my house :)

    well, congratulations then!

yep, must be a chaos de d.f.,

also for the local offices to refund the money to the non-approved
applications. I mean, what if I apply for a 3 year renewal
& they decide to only give me 1 or 2 years. they gotta whole lot of paperwork brought on themselves - by the new law - they didn't have before.

    other subject:
a friend of mine filled out the online form & is now waiting
for an online confirmation to go to the immigration.
is that what she's supposed to do?
I mean before, you would take the online application & your
paperwork & go, - if I remember last year right -
    & then wait.

thanks for all the detailed posts to you & others here.

    hi steve,

    I have a few questions:

you applied based on 4 years of fm2, right?

did you have to show bank statement?
if so how many months? originals or copies?

I read different accounts about this on different websites.

    any help much appreciated.
    thanks.

I qualified on 3 different criteria - marriage, income and time served so I just gave them all the paperwork I had for everything and let them take their pick.

For the financial statements I gave them 4 months of statements printed from my online accounts, untranslated. I cant say that that is what they will accept as it was probably time served that they used in my case with the other documents being merely supporting.

In the past, with me, they have both accepted and rejected online printouts, and have both required translation and accepted untranslated.

They can be very picky - one year they wouldnt accept my statements because my passport name is Stephen Alan Wright and my bank account showed the name S A Wright.

    thank you, steve.

I have some more time & hope to be able to switch
from a temporary - after 4th renewal last year - to
    a permanent r.,
based on no. 6 in the 'cambio de condicion
de estancia' - online paper on the offical site.
it doesn't state no other requirements,
but as a rentista, depending on who you listen to
the 5 years only might not be enough,
even though that's what the paper says.
I'll find out, if not before than in person.

    Keep us posted hacienda.

A lot of us are in this boat. The expiration of my 2nd year of the FMI is in Oct. I had several years of FM3s, at least 4. I actually had 2 different FM3s as the original had so many stamps they made me get a new booklet, and it had a different number, but the two did link in their system.

    Thanks
