No, I followed exactly what the law said regarding applying using the point system, which made no mention of requiring financial statements, and neither does the qualifying under the four year path to permanent residency. This is a situation in-which, at least for some, holding INM to the letter of the law can pay off.
Tristan, Mauricio wanted 3 months' bank statements for my app to Perma. Res. - from four years of FM3.
I just gave them everything I had, based on the assumption that if something wasn't sufficient, something else would make up for it. I did give them bank statements printed from the Internet which should have been sufficient in itself, but I'm more likely to have qualified through sentence served and/or having a Mexican wife and kids. Incidentally, we moved house after my application was submitted, I understand I have 90 days to let them know of the change. I just hope they dont make a fuss since my 'issue date' is Jan 3rd, so the 90 days is already up. I've only had the card in my possession less than a week.
The 90 days counts from the time you moved and has nothing to do with any pending applications at the time- the requirement for notice of the move and its associated tramite being independent of other processes
Not sure what I was thinking when I asked that, makes perfect sense. I wonder though, how do they know it is within 90 days of your move? I could go in 6 months time and say I moved last week.
True, something less than complete honesty is always an option. I have no idea whether there'd be a penalty if you came clean. On another subject- Mauricio was helping you during this time period, and he could have taken care of this for you. Was he aware you'd moved?
Yes, but I applied mid November and moved house Mid Feb. My application was too far through (in fact already approved I later found out) at the time of our move. Mauricio (and I) was concerned it might stall the process and he assured me it was an easy change to do after issue.
