Not a problem girl. In my opinion, the issue with gel in darker colours (my style) is the fact that it will be thicker; as result, will be heavy on the nail bed and will prove to be difficult with application. I believe this is why the colour selection is so minimal argh!! Nonetheless, you have a fab time with da' girls … have to say I’m extremely jealous – we terribly miss Van … our ol’ stomping grounds lol!! :aktion033:
It's a gorgeous sunny day here in Lotusland, Chantelle. Make sure you PM me if you are ever out this way for a visit, and we'll go for a drink!
ARGH - ya snow on the ground here which makes me often question why we ever decided to move back to AB - LOL!! :aktion034: Absolutely, DEAL - Vic's dad lives in Delta now and we try to get back every so often for a visit, so I'll definitely send you a PM when we are there!! At some point, maybe our paths will cross while at TTR ... have a blast on your vaca this year girl and we will ttys!! rangehat: Cheers, :daveandmo: Chantelle
I love the shellac idea for the toes. I have had my fingernails shellacked and it also lasts a long time but not as long as the fake nails. My salon offers acrylic, diamond or gel tips. Acrylic seems much more "thick". I got diamond last time and it was not as thick even after fills. It is a little more expensive (even the fills) but I plan to do it for the trip. Still unsure of toenail color. Leaning towards French as it will go with everything but it seems kinda boring. Decisions, decisions....
I have the gel put on my fingernails. I will do something that will not clash with any suits or outfits. Maybe gold or silver sparkles. Don't know yet. Last year I did the french with silver tips and sparkles. The gel lasted the entire 10 day trip. I did visit the nail salon at the resort and had my toe nail polish changed. They passed out a $10 coupon one day and I took advantage. They did a good job. They did not understand any fancy designs on the toes, just solid color. The polish lasted well. I always take extra polish because my toes never hold up as well. Too much playing around I guess ~Dawn~
I switched from acrylic to Shellac last January. I wasn't sure how I would like it but decided to try it since it was the new fad. I absolutely love Shellac!! There were so many times I hit my nails and instantly thought "shit! There goes a nail" but surprisingly, they were unharmed! The other thing I like about them is you can actually scratch an itch....not the easiest thing to do with acrylic nails. I'm pretty hard on my hands at work and the Shellac is very durable. I'm not sure if it's gel or not. There's a base coat, then two layers of polish and a top coat. My nail lady uses an LED light for the "baking". There are a lot of colors to choose from. I think last year I went with grey(except for my ring finger on my left hand which is always pink) and blue on my toes. Both my fingernails and toes held up fine last year. ~N
Has anybody had any problems with gel nails or Shellac getting "mushy" from lotions or being in the pool? I have never done anything to my nails except regular polish last year that chipped day two. I am a haidresser so because of my schedule I will be working 3 days after I get my nails done before my trip, then have to last the whole week! Any recommendations? I have nice natural nails and don't want to ruin them.
