Can't be said too often. The detailed reports that make you feel like you're there are the best. Sitting here at a bar as the snow falls outside, words cannot describe how good it feels to pretend you're back at TTR.

    Review Portion of Trip Report

K, so here goes the actual review portion of the resort itself, and less of reliving of shenanigans. I will do my best to be objective.

    FOOD:

    Margaritas:
It's ok. Certain menu items like the burrito or fajitas that have the beef steak and peppers/onions are good. The quac is nice because it doesn't have too much garlic, too.
The buffet looks tired and the food is bland. My hubby loved the pasta with red sauce on the buffet (always there)...but I thought it tasted like a can of Ragu was just dumped on top of noodles.

We found the staff at Margaritas to be lacking almost every time we were there. Even when it wasn't busy, they were not on the ball with drinks or anything - with the exception of one of the older waiters that worked at night. I feel bad I can't remember his name now, but he was great.

    El Embarcadero:
Meh. The omelette bar is great, the girls there really have that down to a science! They crack the eggs with one hand and flip the eggs with ease and can have 5 different orders going at once. I had an omelett and oatmeal every morning. The oatmeal is made with milk and it's delish with a little coconut and granola on top of it.
They don't have a menu, and you may not know this, but you can order cappuccino from the waiters. They're not too sweet, which is great. I found the coffee at TTR to be revolting. I'm not a coffee snob but this coffee was just bitter, so for me, cappuccino it was - all week.

Most of the food at the buffet was no good. I tried everything in small portions at least once just to test it out. Very bland, sometimes bitter or just weird. The mole sauce was horrible.
The fresh fruits and breads were nice though.

We felt like the staff at El Embarcadero was the least attentive, with the exception of Xavier at the front. I know it's busy in there but a smile wouldn't hurt.

    Village Wok:
In our opinion, it was the best food at TTR.
You have to make a reservation for it, but it's worth it. The service was exceptional. They smiled and took their time with us. Even thought it was late at night, they didn't rush us out of the restaurant either, which was nice. I'm drawing a total blank on our waiter's name now too, dammit! Anyway we felt he was the best waiter at the whole resort. He was fun, engaging, helpful, and prompt with the refills.
The atmosphere is nice. It's small in there, but pretty.

Ugh. Time to go. More later.
