New Mexican law starting jan 23rd, 2007

    http://tinyurl.com/yr3386

for those who can't read Spanish here is a rough translation:

Touristic Services Providers and authorities from the Caribbean touristic destinations are alert of the Norhtamerican Market behavior starting this Janaury 23rd, when a new initiative will come into effect which forces United States residents to have a passport.

Finally, the new law that forces American Residents who wish to travel abroad to have a passport will come into effect this tuesday. This measure did not apply for Latin American countries, where the tourists could travel without any problems, as long as they presented a form of ID.

Authorties and service providers estimate the there will actually be an impact in the visitors flow one this law comes into effect.

The question is how far will this.... [the article is borked)

....North Americans represent 70% of the total of tourists in the world who visit the Caribean.

Alec Sanguinetti, General Manager of the CHA, (Caribean Hotels Association) acknowledged that there is a degree of uncertainty in the regional toursitc sector, since tehy have no idea how these new travelling rules will impact the zone whose main market is the United States.

The rest is jsut statistics and stuff.

Edit: get your passports while you still have time!
