And the passports arrived Friday. As a side note, I reached out to my representative and actually got a callback. The person on the phone told me that the one agency they had luck with helping on delay issues was the passport agency, she said they had really stepped up. Don't think you can get one day service but if you have had a long delay and can be nice about it, you may get some relief by dropping an email to your elected officials. Now time to start packing 9/19 can't come soon enough!
I had a similar issue. Applied in June for a trip in October and by 9/1 still had no word on if I’d get it on time. We reached out to our US Congressman and within 24 hours my passport had been issued and in the mail. If you go that route make sure you contact the State Department and get your application number and processing location first before calling your rep.
