So glad everything ended well for you peaches :!: :!: All this passport talk is making me nervous I applied 11 weeks ago and leave in 4 weeks   Now I'm getting nervous I will say a little prayer for all of you.......please do the same for me :!: Safe travels :!:
You applied 11 weeks ago and have not got it???? Oh man, now I am gonna freak out. I applied for my daughter's passport about 9 weeks ago and I leave in 4 weeks too. I checked the status online and it says that it is being processed. From what I understand, it can say that for quite a while. My mom's passport has been "being processed" for 2 weeks now! We all need some prayers, it sounds like. My nephew applied for a passport so he could go to Australia and was supposed to leave the 1st of March. Well, he got a letter in the mail stating that the guy at the post office did not fill the paperwork out properly so my nephew had to go back to the post office with that letter and re do his filing. He got this letter 5 days before he supposed to leave!!!!!! The only good thing about this story was, my nephew had post poned his trip. The passport folks did not know that. He would have been totally screwed if he would have stuck with his original plans.
passport update Just called again...1 week from departure...11 weeks after applying... they tell me our passports are still being worked on and check back in 2 days! :bash:
Tawanda I thought that they would expedite if you are with 14 days of trip? They told my travel buddy this last Thursday. Told her to call back Friday and they would expedite it and overnight it
Yeah, they also told me they would expedite and Fed Ex (last Thursday)! But, this morning when I spoke with a rep, they told me there is nothing they can do and they are still being processed!
passport Well we leave the 6th and still no passport, 12 weeks in. To get thru to the main passport center is a nightmare. But to get thru is to call 877-487-2778 as soon as it answers hit 1-3-1. If the recording says all are busy just hang up and speed dial back. I got thru to them in abot 10 mins doing it like that. They were still no real help but said they would send a message to the Houston office to expadite them and to check back in 48 hours. I have a appointment set fot the 29th downtown. But a friend of mine said the lines were around the building,No appointment was really needed. He was there at 7am.Gave everyone a number,Went into a room and waited till 4. But got it the next day. Hope some of this info helps!
I would definitely suggest for anyone applying for a passport this year to pay the extra $60 and get the expedited service. Instead of 11 weeks, you will get it in less than 2, and avoid all this anxiety.
