I still think that as the ladies dress up we should do our best as well. I know my best really isn't that good, but I'm willing to do as well as I can. As well, I've seen lots of people having a special night there, and I don't think it's right for anyone to detract from their enjoyment just for their own comfort. I'm willing to admit that if it's warm enough I think long pants are ridiculous, but if we're trying to dress it up a little, let's do it.
If your lady is dressed to the nines you really shouldn't be worried about what the dude across the aisle is or isn't wearing. Isn't Temptation all about acceptance and not judging? I don't go commenting on guys that feel the need to wear pants so how about you accept that I prefer shorts? I have a dream of a place wear the short wearers and the pant wearers can coexist in peaceful harmony and maybe even like each other. In fact I will make it my job to hug all pants wearing dudes
Just got back late last night from ten glorious days at TTR. I always enjoy dressing nice to the Italian and Asian, but sadly, they were allowing shorts and flip flops. Oh well...to each their own I guess. Ginger
Well I (Rob) did wear pants. Twice! Once to the Italian restaurant and once on a night out. And yes, it is nice to go out to a nice meal at the Asian or Italian place and enjoy a nice glass of wine after a long hard day at the pool.
i think dressing nice for the rest. is the way to go. they do sell lightwieght linen pants that wouldnt be too hot. but i understand nice dress shorts too. i mean if i can wear a short nice dress, men should be able to wear nice shorts to. flip flops no!! tacky!!! slip on loafers or some such are fine. but i wont get huffy, or even be bothered if someone does come in wearing those things because it doesnt change how my meal will taste, or the service i get, or make the wearer a bad person. so to each there own. soon to be at the asian again love that place!!!!
I know what the dress code says........BUT just last week there were quite a few shorts in both restaurants, and in one case a guy in a tank top. Either enforce the dress code or don't have one! And while we're on the topic of specialty restaurants........they need a major upgrade! The furniture is waaaaaaaaay worn out....fixtures at shot! And you'd think that a change on menus once a year would possible! We ate at the specialty restaurants twice and the buffet the other night......... Leg of Lamb, Beef tenderloin, shrimp, grouper.......so very nice selections!
I think inconsistencies like this are just the result of cultural differences. In the US, businesses tend to post rules and follow them. My experiences in Mexico and throughout the Caribbean tell me some things are more relaxed, laid back and generally inconsistent from what we're used to at home. I've been on this forum for quite a while, and the most consistent thing for years has been the inconsistency of the dress code enforcement. It's always going to be hit or miss with dress code. Here's what I do: I follow the dress code because I think it's the right thing to do...smile, because I'm on vacation at an amazing resort...and I don't worry about what others have on.
As an aging punk rocker I tend to try and get away with as much as I can lol You're right though, the Caribbean is much more laid back about things like rules and times. The staff joke about a "Mexican Minute" for a reason and when in the Caribbean we're always aware that there's "Island Time" and not to worry if things don't happen when they say they should Soon come! I think North Americans and Europeans could learn something from that.
