    Palace resorts

Just returned from the Sun Palace from 3/1 - 3/8. We were supposed to be at the Cancun Palace but upon arrival were told we were going to the Moon. Under no circumstances would we go to the Moon so it was the Sun Palace. First let me say the resorts are beautiful, however there is much work to still be done. The reason we were bumped from the CP was they have only 100 rooms that are operational per manager and for members it is in our best interest to be moved. We spoke to a few people later on that were staying there...HSBC bank had over 250 rooms and 500 people there for incentive trip so there were more than 100 rms working. I would suppose by May or June things will be looking up. It is beautiful, the old CP as we knew it is gone! The "smallness" or intimate palace is gone. The beach has suffered significately whereas the SP beach got bigger. The SP is basically the same layout with upgraded rooms and pool areas. Entertainment is not there like it used to be at either place poolside, never saw any nightly entertainment at SP I believe one night it was starting like at 10pm in lobby bar. There were not that many people there so it was very laid back and quiet, CP was starting to have a few spring breakers but again, poolside very quiet not like prior stays. That should pick up as they get more rooms available. We wish they had told us we were being bumped before we got there because we were in Playa Del Carmen and probably would've asked for change to Playacar or Adventura. We did get a $200 rent a car, golf, or spa voucher for our inconvience and were told we could move to the CP form SP on day 4 if we wanted. My advice for the person trying to decide between CP and the Moon, go to the CP or the Playacar in Playa del Carmen. The MP is nice but too big and too far from activites/night life shopping, etc.
