Something to keep in mind for anyone thinking about buying pharmaceuticals in Cancun -

Just 'cause they're more readily available doesn't mean that they're any cheaper there (by any stretch of the imagination!).

And remember...you do need a prescription for certain things.

Imodium (couldn't have made it without it), hair gel (it's too humid to wear your hair straight out there), sunblock (it is more expensive out there, probably because it is eco-friendly), condoms (you never know...), Ipod charger (when you want to block out the world with your Ipod), and camera (so that you can blackmail your friends later). LOL!

Immodium used to be more of a necessity than it is today.

You might want to consider a more healthful solution - which would be to take a tablet or two of ACIDOPHILUS (otherwise known as Lactobacillus Acidophilus) after each meal. It's inexpensive, it's good for you, and in that quantity will displace (just about) any bad bacteria you happen to injest.

And - it works both ways (at the same time!) - i.e. it's also good for those that might become constipated as a result of the difference in environment.

Where can I get that? GNC? Alcohol won't affect it right?

You can buy Immodium over the counter in any drug store or supermarket.

Presuming you meant Acidophilus, you can get it at just about any major drugstore (GNC is good too), but your least expensive option is to order online from a place you trust and might be getting other supplements from (like Swansons or Puritans Pride or ?). Also, I would get the chewable kind so you won't need water to take them (and they taste better too!).

Acidophilus is actually the 'new' ingredient they now put into the 'premium' versions of the more popular brands of yogurt (like Activia and such), and is something you may decide to continue to take even once you've come back home.

Alcohol does not affect the action of Acidophilus. As a matter of fact, Acidophilus is most effective when taken with food and as we know, alcohol is most effective (although perhaps not as healthful) before eating, so if taken properly, they won't even see each other.

    You're very welcome.

I happened to think of one other thing that we always take with us (whether travelling for work or for play) which we find to be exceedingly useful in many instances- and that's a simple $1 plug-in nightlight.

Lots of times (particularly if you're in a suite with a seperate bathroom, there's not enough light to see where everything's at when it comes time for beer recycling and everyone else is still asleep. At times like that, turning on the lights can be a shocker and can completely ruin the 'ambiance'.

Having a nightlight plugged in the loo - or near the washbasin can really be a useful feature. The only thing is that they're easy to forget about and leave behind. But for a buck - who cares?
