    Hi Brewster and Partydollgirl
We think your review is very accurate! We also have been to both and we prefer Cabo maybe because we are a bit older and like the laid back style....Thanks again....
    Cheryl and Geoff Calgary/Alberta.....
We are going again to Cabo on 31 Dec and can't wait!

Well Bruce I had to read your report after my grammatically flawed tale on the Cancun side of things. I would like to see the Cabo area but based on your observations, which I trust knowing you and Kim as well as I have come to over the last two April's I think I will skip TTR Cabo for the time being. As a single male traveller I don't think I could handle being in a small minority. By the sounds of it and some of the pictures of the place I have seen on this forum I agree that they need to realign it to encourage more larger groups congregating.

By the sounds of it identifying it with Temptation in Cancun may be a bit of a mistake. So let me put on my marketing hat (I'm not in marketing but I have stayed before at a Holiday Inn Express) and come up with a new name for the place...

Cancun (lifestyle clothing optional) = Desire
Cancun (topless optional, singles welcome) = Temptation
Cabo (topless optional, singles welcome (not common?) = Seduction

I used a thesaurus on that one!

definitely a resort not made for everyone...... but while we were there i did not sense any anti single sentiment whatsoever (can only speak from our experience) in fact, the reosrt was completely full and we stayed up late many nights partying with them... and i would guess that fully 20 to 25 % of the people there were singles and they seemed to all be having a blast.

three single guys we met in cabo in picture with t & our single girl friend jill

There is absolutly nothing special about this resort..there is no vibe and maybe vibe is the wrong word perhaps atmosphere is better. I agree that when there is a group.. especially of TTR cancuner the level of fun in your circle goes up..and a few may join you.. but the rest of the resort is gone to bed at 11.. you can make your own fun.. as we did but the resort is to split up.

and for the record .. the resort was over booked when we were there.. we were upgraded to a jucuzzi suite for the week.. still only one resturant and the buffet per night.. they never lit the fire pits only for the outsiders that were coming in for the 360 lounge night.. I am sure they perhaps make more of an effort in the high season.. I dont think that this resort reguardless of the people would be any different than a regular resort other than being topless and perhaps the desire weeks..

you cant really compare a group of couples going together to a couple or single going on there own.. IMO.. its just not set up for meeting and mingling. it "is" for sure set up to have a relaxing romantic time with your partner .

I think part of your problem Partydollgirl, and please don't take this as a slap in the face, it is not intended that way, but I fear you may have overhyped it. You may have been so looking forward to this place that inevitably you were let down. You had four separate posts going on your trip to Cabos, you began the hype after you returned from Cancun last April, many of your posts were "keeping it on top". I think you were just too excited about this trip possibly and there was no way it could live up to your expectations.

You had the opportuntiy for New Orleans, and although that is always a personal choice, there was times when you encouraged and possibly swayed people to go to Cabos instead of New Orleans, I hope I am not off track here, it is just my impressions from your posts.

So yes, I think your expectations and pre trip hype set the bar too high to make the inevitable result achievable.

We have now been twice, that is in addition to 5 times in Cancun so we have a good comparison, and personally prefer Cabos, that is not a knowck on Cancun, they are different.

There was once when the hot tub temperature was low, we asked about it, and the rest of the week it was fabulous. Both years we have been, the fire pits were lit at night, the bartenders were still operating the hot tub bar at 3:00 am.

The first time we only knew Mike and Marnel in advance and only through this site, we had only met them briefly one other time.

The second time we hung out with Rob and his crew as well as Rick and Fay, Bobbie and Harold and a bunch of others, we had two separate groups mingling plus at least 3-4 other groups join us, two of whom are already booked to return and enjoyed it so much we all committed to New Olreans this past October.

When we went last time, I was doing a lot of back and forth with Rob, building up our own hype, but with no expectations that things would be great. We even had a few side bar conversations long the lines of "If we hit it off", not "When we hit it off", things were great and we did hit it off, but we hadn't built that expectation in advance. So we ended up with about 25-30 of us hanging out, and other people commenting about how our group appeared to be having so much fun. We had a party planner extrordinaiore, he set up the booze cruise, arranged for a great dinner, and is/was a very gracious host. Perhaps you just needed someone to take charge.

The first time we went, we also had a blast, we hung out with Mike and Marnel and another couple, we met a bunch of people there and spent a lot of time together, but we always spend time together. I think you have to make the party come to you, you don't go to the party, if that makes any sense.

So again, please don't take this as an insult, it is not intended that way.

Bruce had many points positive and negative about the resort. Not negative in the sense that this was terrible!!! but negative in the sense that this could be improved, or in comparison this is lacking, it was positive negativity and I agree with many points.

But a lot of those points have to do with the size of the resort, 150 people versus 600 people, even if 20% of the people are singles at each resort, that works out to 30 in Cabos, 120 in Cancun, a big difference. The disco is not open every night, again, the size of the resort, not as many restaurants, the size of the resort.

Activities off the resort, Cancun is close to a million people, Los Cabos and San Jose combined is leass than 120 000. You cannot allow your expectations to be greater than reality.

Anyway, I just thought I would make a few comments, the thread appears to be sliding backwards and i think it is just what it is, a great resort for people that have their expectations in check and enjoy being by themselves or with a group of great people.

well..see, here is the thing .. you are intitled to your opinion.. I cant imagin why you would decide from this site what kind of a person I am or decide what I might have been thinking before we went and that perhaps I would need a party planner..lol....all I can say is let me assure you that I was certainly not over hyped.. infact after reading your trip report and asking Rob a few questions I was under the understanding that this resort was smaller, more laidback and went with no expectations what so ever except that with the resort being a Temptation resort it was RUN like one.. I dont think that, that was too high of a expectation at all...

the reason that this thread is sliding is for every trip report that is writen where people are trying to be honset about THEIR experience, there is somone jumping in and posting "No your wrong" like we would Lie about it .. our experience is our experience and your is yours.. this site encourages trip reports.. I believe that there are quit a few that experienced this resort the same as us.. again.. not that we hated it .. so for you to say no my expereince is wrong and I was too excited doesnt make your experience any more true than mine..

the Keeping it on top post was just keeping the Roll call going so people didnt have to go digging 3 or 4 pages back for it .. cretainly had nothing to do with hype..

and I really dont recall trying to persuade peopl from going to New Orleans.. even if I did.. sooo nothing wrong with trying to put a group together is there.. same as you!

and FYI.. when you start a post with I hope you dont take this as a slap in the face usually means there is one coming .. so taken as it was intended..
