I have noticed that all of these posts are from North America. If you ever met Chinos and actually sat down and talked with him you will find that he is a very respectable down to earth person. If you addressed your concern for the "retarded comment" away from his forum, like in the Gym at 6 a.m. where he is usually found or at breakfast, he would most likely try to change that. We have met Chinos at TTR and ran into him at Mardi Gras as well and have had many conversations with him. Chino is an entertainer bottom line his forum is based on making people feel silly and embarrassing them, so you have to be thick skinned in he gets you in his sights. Remember he is also from Russia, speaking English and working in Mexico. Sometimes acceptability from one country's culture to another is lost in translation. Advise, if you don't want to talk with him about it, let it go in one ear and out the other and don't take it personally.

Chinos being politically correct....not so much.....errr not even close
Chinos a compasionate person....definitely.....he has a big, big heart.
On our first trip, I was actually offended by Chinos' behavior at first, never being exposed to anything/anyone CLOSE to him....could he use sensitivity training? maybe, but then I don't think he would be Chinos as we know him.......
Now, I appreciate his sense of humor....nothing is sacred, he picks on everyone. That being said, political correctness is not as important in Mexico as USA, Canada or UK etc....he does cross the line frequently as far as we're concerned, but if he offends you, and I know this may sound insensitive, stay away during his perfomances....if you don't want to do that, you have to put up with his antics....I don't think he's going to change, but if you did mention something that bothered you, like was mentioned above, i'm betting he would probably do his best to accomodate you, and you'd more than likely get an apology. With all of that being said, he's one of the reasons we're going back.

Like I said, questioning Chino is generally not allowed.

Nothing being sacred and hurting people are two very different things. It's easy to dismiss acceptance as "political correctness" since the media has turn that into such a bad word. But to me the issue is simply not hurting others. Things can be funny and profane, but when hurting others is the intent, it moves beyond being fun. Telling people who have been hurt that they are just being too sensitive or that maybe they should just leave doesn't help - it makes it their fault that people are making fun of them. To me not giving a shit doesn't give us permission to harm people because we don't give a shit about them, but to accept them because the categories of exclusion we typically find don't matter at TTR.

To Julie and the original poster, actually alot of the posters agreed with you. They were just trying to explain how hard of a job Chino's has in attempting to entertain daily (or almost daily) at the resort. Remember, most of us go there once a year for a week or so. He's there almost daily so he prolly doesn't even realize if he's offending someone. Like others have said, meet with him sometime when you're there and express how you feel. He really is a nice and genuine person, the act he's putting on is just that, an act. Anyway, I'm not trying to fan any flames so to speak with you guys, more so, just hoping to keep the calm.

I figured there would be a difference of opinion on Chino when I posted this. Which is all good and I decided to put my honest feelings out there. I actually did look for a time to talk with him but the opportunity never presented itself.

Just to clear up a misunderstandning - it has nothing to do with PC. That would involve politics. I am talking about humanity. I think it comes from having a different background. I have advocated for my daughter for 18 years. She has had rocks thrown at her head and called a retard. She has been shoved, her schools books torn and thrown on the ground because they said she was too "retarded" to have them. I have three girls - and until you have had to hold one of them for hours as they cried, well...............let's just say you have to walk in someone else's shoes for a day. That's what I would have liked to express to Chino.

I found 90% of what he did very funny. I think he can be just as funny or funnier with a little more creative use of language like someone stated earlier. The rest of the staff was very respectful and courteous. Considering I was walking around almost buck nekked - I felt safe, respected and even complimented the whole time.

I hope to go back someday not too far from now. Chino's behavior wouldn't stop me from going back - I just thought a little warning to some might be helpful. The information I got on here before I left was extremely helpful. I think it's great for others to hear about that side of Chino. It gives better perspective and makes me more likely to sit down and have a heart to heart.

I didn't see anybody disagree that the beds SUCK. LMAO

What really made it for me was the let loose atmosphere and the great people we met. All different countries, walks of life, lifestyles, philosophies. Loved the diversity. Viva la difference!!!!

I think the best way to think of Chinos is this. His character is closer to Sam Kinnison than Jerry Seinfeld. Understandably it's going to hit some people more than others. On a future trip I would suggest talking if not to him then one of the other entertainment staff about your concerns.

I know from personal experience he is a nice and accomodating enough guy that he'd find a way to get through his schtick without using terms that are degrading.

I always go back to my favorite George Carlin bit... Rape can be funny, it's not about the word itself but about the context it is used in.

I'd also like to add that I think that this is a great thread. The OP did a great job of conveying what can sometimes transpire around the sexy pool. Future first time visitors to Temptation who have read this will have a better idea what to expect and may not be so shocked (though they still may be offended). Also, I'm glad you guys enjoyed your trip and I enjoyed reading you TR. Thanks for your report and your honesty.
