I'll just leave this right here.... [ame=]Highway of Heroes - The Trews song as the background - YouTube *wipes eyes*....friggin' allergies...
Only 2 hours away, my heart has been with everyone in Ottawa. As part of a family that came here to Canada in '65 from Ireland, 6 out of 10 of us kids served proudly in Canada's armed forces. My father was a cop here in Montreal. I know, typical Irish, right? All we know is serving a country that's been so bloody good to us. Please know that your neighbours from everywhere were breathing with you throughout this week. xoxoxo
Bro in law was down the street (in the military) when it happened. Sister, niece and mom were locked down. So tough but must keep perspective. Sad day but proud of the reaction of my country and neighbors to the south. I was driving along the Highway of Heroes today and the caravan passed by me going the opposite way. The response was incredible. Thanks to folks all over North America who took a moment to recognize this tragedy on home soil.
Just an F.Y.I update: It was exactly one year ago today that Nathan was brutally attacked. There are several ceremonies and observances taking place in his hometown and a couple in Ottawa. A local park where he would take his dogs was renamed this week, in his honor and is now a dedicated leash free park.
And don't forget the military guy who was run down by some wing nut two days prior to Nathan being shot while guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier .
It is hard to believe that it has already been a year. Thank you for sharing the perspective regarding the tributes- sooooo wonderful On another note, congratulations on your new Prime Minister, wishing you all the very best Ang
Sorry I wasn't intending to slight that great honourable man. But I have no knowledge to pass along regarding him. I just wished to relate the update about Nathan who was widely known by ppl in my social circle
No worries , just everyone focused on the Nathan the shooting victim but the run down of Patrice ( I think that's correct) was somehow not forgotten but more in the background but still just as brutal and tragic .
