Just wondering, do you guys get this sort of thing in your country (US & Canada)? I've not seen any coverage of similar protests. Muslim Protest in London (watch the video.) The leader of this protest makes $40,000 in benefits a year, never done a days work in his life and lives in a house in London worth half a million dollars paid for by the UK Government (i.e taxpayers) but owned by a relative (the Govt pays his relative to rent it). He makes more than a British soldier risking his life in Afghanistan. Also at this protest was a guy who was fined just £50 for burning a poppy on Rememberance Day during the one minute silence (our equivalent of Memorial day). If that's not fucked up, I don't know what is.
We haven't gotten anything that drastic here. The worst protesters we've had here in recent years were a large group of Tamil Tiger supporters roaming through Toronto. I don't think our militants are anywhere near as vocal as they are in the UK.
I recall a Jamaica guy in Toronto (purported by the media to be a spokesman for the black population) who got a lot of press. But nothing like this. I think England sees a lot more of this than we do in North America. The irony is that many of these protestors would disappear is some secret jail in the countries they came from if they dared carried protest signs around, etc. Hard for me to walk in their shoes. I'd think I'd be glad as hell to be living in a free country. I try my best to be understanding by sometimes it's really, really hard.

There in lays the irony. People from repressive countries protesting in Western countries about how evil we all are. We all believe in the right to protest but there's a point at which it just gets stupid. These idiot skirt the edge of the law so that they are still able to spew their crap without being arrested. Oh.. there was one guy near Toronto that was posting on message boards that targeting soldiers and their families at home was a valid tactic. But after people started paying attention he said that he wasn't actually telling anyone to do anything. He's been under CICS watch for a while now.
