rdubnpk Hell! It wouldn't be any fun, then.................. I am going to have to update the pic because the boat is no longer. We have moved to another house (to quote another entry I saw earlier, "and yes we are still married") with a pool. I am hoping to get PK in a patriotic half bikini, ala T, and enter that instead. We will see!!!
Was just waiting for someone to jump in with the regular "Dems v/s Repubs." crap... Is there ANYTHING that Obama does that could even get the slightest recognition from the Republicans? While the majority of the world is grateful for OBL´s death, there always have to be some crybabies out there. Incredible. Ps. Id LOVE to see the Republicans reactions if CNN and others had mistakenly written "G W Bush dead" and said, on live tv: "G W Bin Laden"... Im sure they would all sit quietly, especially O´Reilly...
I find people who attempt to interject politics into this accomplishment petty. I'm almost positive that the Navy Seals that jumped out of those choppers were both Democrats and Republicans BUT the IMPORTANT thing was they were AMERICANS. Any attempt to minimize or find fault with the accomplishment of these soldiers and their support staff does absolutely nothing postive for the US. This is something good that we should all share just as we all shared the devastation of 9/11. Firm
I agree. In fact, it is a relief to see that Obama now continues many of the policies that were originally put in place by President Bush. Just imagine where we'd be if Gitmo was now closed and the Patriot Act was eliminated. What if the US was only relegated to reading Miranda Rights on the battle field, chasing down Islamic terrorists with lawyers and judges? Instead, Obama chose the bold move to put a bullet in Bin Laden's head using - yes, American Special Forces (not lawyers and judges). Bravo! But along those same lines, it would have also been nice to see Obama crediting Republicans for all the ground work that was provided during the Bush administration. Evil does not die of natural causes - The Washington Post "The bin Laden operation is the perfect vindication of the war on terror. It was made possible precisely by the vast, warlike infrastructure that the Bush administration created post-9/11, a fierce regime of capture and interrogation, of dropped bombs and commando strikes. That regime, of course, followed the more conventional war that brought down the Taliban, scattered and decimated al-Qaeda and made bin Laden a fugitive. Without all of this, the bin Laden operation could never have happened. Whence came the intelligence that led to Abbottabad? Many places, including from secret prisons in Romania and Poland; from terrorists seized and kidnapped, then subjected to interrogations, sometimes “harsh” or “enhanced”; from Gitmo detainees; from a huge bureaucratic apparatus of surveillance and eavesdropping. In other words, from a Global War on Terror infrastructure that critics, including Barack Obama himself, deplored as a tragic detour from American rectitude."
The report may be a bit of a stretch. From what I understand, there have been three detainees that received "harsh or enhanced" interrogation (ie. water boarding) and those occurred in 2003 or 2004. Following that the Bush administration suspended use of this technique. One would wonder if the technique was as effective as some have claimed then why was it ever suspended. Interviews with key military personnel responsible for interrogation have come forward since, stating that traditional techniques were far more productive. I think , as usual, it is difficult to glean truth from the media these days, whether it comes from a left or right wind slant. Apparently, there was a 40 minute fire fight before reaching the third floor where Bin laden was found. And he was unarmed and going for a weapon when they discovered him. He listened to a 40 minute fire fight without arming himself? Does anyone else find this report a little strange?
agree on the media these day they spend all the time they have trying to make news instead of just simply doing their jobs and reporting on the news. good point and i said this to t the other day ---------- i could care less about seeing a damn picture of that piece of shit - i want to see that 40 minute video rob
They're in such a rush to be the first one out with a bit of news that they don't wait for the full story. We see it all the time. 9/11, Katrina, etc... it doesn't matter what big story it is. Instead of waiting for the full story they give us dribs and drabs of fact with their opinion and speculation added in. Who knows where the truth actually is.
