    We were there September 2004.

We were greeted very warmly at the front desk.
Our room was ready, so after a very quick check-in we were escorted to room 1844, a Jr. Suite.

Immaculate room, king size bed with a pillow top mattress!
Finally, a COMFY bed in Cancun!
    Robes on the bed, too.

Lovely room, flat screen t.v., mini bar, electronic safe, iron and ironing board,
lots of drawers and closet space, 2 phones, including one in the bathroom,
a basket of shampoo & conditioner, soaps, lotion, shower cap and a sewing kit.

    Beautiful (but shallow) pools.

You can go all-inclusive or European plan at the Omni.
We were all-inclusive, which I highly recommend, as the food here is good.

The Omni has a wonderful specialty restaurant, Da Vinci's, with excellent food and service.

The Omni has a jacuzzi bar on the beach.

The Omni has lots of activities during the day, pool games, pottery painting, pool tables, etc.

They also have theme dinners during the week.

The only nightly entertainment we saw was a sax player in the Lobby Bar.
So the hotel is quiet in the evenings.

We enjoyed our stay at the Omni, it's a very nice family hotel.
The service was wonderful, the staff was very friendly, the food was good, and we would recommend this hotel.

Question: does nayone know if all rooms have refrigerators? I'm assuming that you can bring in food/drink from elsewhere, is that so?

    March 25-30th Omni

Just returned last night from 5 days at the Omni Cancun

There were 6 of us in our family group. Ages 45, 33, 19 17, 17 and 10....so we covered a broad age range.

We travel to Cancun 4-5 times a year and this was our first trip to the Omni. The omni is a family oriented resort and not geared toward the party crowd. The resort met or exceeded our expectations on virtually all counts. We were on the All inclusive plan, which i would highly recommend.
The rooms were very good. There is a mini bar but it it is not part of the all AI plan. The beach is as good as it gets in Cancun. There are a lot of waves, but that suited our group just fine. The pools are very shallow, but otherwise very clean and well maintained. As with most hotels in cancun it is a good idea to get up early to reserve a chair on the beach or by the pool. We were there over Easter and still managed to always find chairs. The service on all levels was outstanding. David on the beach, Henry by the pool and our favourite Neri in the lobby bar (used to work at the Caribe Real) were all outstanding, but truthfully all the staff were great. We tip well and i am sure that didn't hurt, but anyone we spoke to was also very impressed with the service.
    Excellent gym and tennis courts.
The da Vinci restaurant was absolutely outstanding in every regard, food service and ambience.

Overall i would rate the Omni 4 to 4.5 out of 5. It would have been nice if there was a refrigerator in the room, and the pools were just a little deeper, but that is trivial. For anyone looking for a great family oriented resort in cancun, the Omni is really worth a look

We've never been to Cancun yet and are thinking about the Omni. Any other suggestions since you've been there so much Tymar?

I was thinking maybe one of those Palace resorts, but I'm not sure......so undecided with all those reviews!

I am 31 and my fiance is 29 and we will be going in May for our honeymoon!

It of course depends on what type of vacation you're looking for. The Omni was outstanding for a family.

If you're looking for a spectacular setting, great service, and can handle being out of Cancun we would highly recommend the Bahia Principe Akumal (the sister property right next door is the Bahia Principe Tulum which is just a little older) you are secluded and a good hour from Cancun. The rooms, service beach etc etc are all first class. The complex is huge. You can use all facilities at both properties. There is an onsite disco and really all the amenities you could want...less the Cancun nightlife.

In Cancun we have stayed at the Caribe Real 3 times. The location is great, staff and entertainment are excellent. The service is good, but not at the same level as the Omni. Beach is good, but the hurricane has taken a good portion of it away. They are on a huge renovation, and pushing the time share very hard right now, so I would likely be inclined to ask someone who has been there in the last month. (we were thre in Jan).

We have also stayed at the BBG, and are returning there in May. Rather than giving you a description, just check out the BBG lounge on this site.

So in short, in our opinion if you can live without the nightlife you will be very happy with the Bahia Principe. If you want to be in Cancun, there are many good choices including the Omni.

    Good luck

Others have said that this is a family resort, what makes it a family resort? What kinds of activities were available for children? I have a 6 year old - do you think she might enjoy Omni too? My husband and I have been debating on taking her. Although it would be nice to have a vacation without her - we have prepaid for a week - and a week is a long time to leave your child somewhere.

    Omni Cancun

Does anyone know how the Omni fared from the hurricane? Did the Omni lose or gain beach? And how about the pools? Does anyone know how to contact employees of the Omni to see how they are doing.

    Thanks in advance,
