Prices I think are set by zone and they should be listed at the hotel. ask the front desk

If Dad is paying, still be thrifty, and hold out for a $400 fare. I would not pay more from the HZ.

well i figure I would just get my hotel to get a cab for me....will I still get a good rate that way? I just figured it would be safer and not only that but I need a cab to come back and pick me up when I get back to Playa on the ferry. i thought maybe my hotel could arrange all that for me. I hope.....

    jenn,

THESE NUMBERS ARE ALL IN PESOS.

My suggestion, after reading this thread again, would be to ask the bell captain the cost of a cab from the hotel to PDC. If it is $400 or less, take it and be happy. If it is more and you are just going with like a backpack, flag a cab and ask the fare. If you cross the street from your hotel you will be headed the right direction, but there is a better chance of finding an empty cab on the hotel side of the street, I can almost guarantee that it will be cheaper than what the hotel will quote you. It could even be the same cab but they can free lance if you flag them down. You might have to flag more than one to get your fare. If they quote you something stupid, tell them $250 or even $300, then settle for no more than $400. Someone will want your money. Once the cab gets to downtown Cancun with his passenger, he is earning $$ at $20 pesos per ride so an easy $400 is a great deal and if he is already in the HZ he is part way to PDC.

And I am pretty sure that the cabs downtown from Molino, about 2 blocks from the bus station, run each way for $220 or $240. One person can pay the whole thing or when the fill it with 4 people at $55 or $60 each they go. Quite a popular deal with local running back and forth from downtown to PDC but I mention this only for comparison of the prices.

And as V says, you walk out of the bus station in PDC look at the beach and the ferry terminal is right there, a football field away.

Good luck. Not sure when you are coming but slow season is almost upon us and people will be wanting to make deals on everything.
