Agreed a most enjoyable "day" trip but the downside is 1 less day at TTR all inclusive!

There's not so much close enough to walk to as I recall. There was a Playboy Club casino which was close enough to walk to, but I think it closed. It was never very busy anyway. Some folks grab the bus to head intot he party zone/club zone, but it doesn't run late. Cabs are way more convenient but you pay fo rit. Best way is to get a small group, jam yourselves into a cab and split the $15 between 4 to 6 people and head for party zone.

Stacia & I have a loose tradition of going to the Hooters in Cancun after we've been at TTR eating TTR food for 3 to 5 days. We've done it the past 12 trips. Go get some wings, feel like you're at home for a moment, then go outside and realize you're still in Cancun and walk over to Senor Frog's, or Carlos & Charlies.... etc. etc. etc.

We visited the island for the 1st time last year. Loved it! Will definitely go back. Try out "The Soggy Peso". Great little place.

@Steve.... Boy Uber didn't last long!
    Lack of biz/interest the reason?

Plenty of interest, too much interest. Taxi drivers got pissed off that people preferred the cheaper, more efficient, more polite service that Uber offered where they could take a simple journey without being offered weed, hookers or risk being ripped off, and where the car had seat belts that actually function. Corrupt taxi drivers support the election of corrupt politicians and were supported back.

Taxi drivers started attacking Uber drivers and their vehicles. While in the process of attacking one such Uber driver, a taxi guy was half way in the highway on a busy road, got hit by a passing truck and killed. Taxi drivers claimed the Uber driver killed him and vowed to kill 10 Uber drivers as revenge. Uber suspended operations shortly after.

Just another day in Mexico. When it comes to business it's the wild wild west. Tourists are not at risk at all though.
