Officially Booked...first Timers

We are going November 26th-December 10th anybody else going at that time?

 

First time too but arriving Dec 26th.

 

Worse case scenario? Well then. We don't want you to come to the opening either then ha. Just kidding Steve.

But I will make the contrarian case for opening week...

1. I have started my daily cancuncare check in and don't think I can make it past 8/15 to answer sooo many of the unanswered questions. Nothing better than being there in person to feel out the new scene yourself. I don't think this is fuzzy math ... I believe August is 5 months away but October is 7 months away
2. There is something about brand spankin new that helps you overlook a bug here or there. For example, lets say 2 or 3 restaurants are open instead of 5 or 6. Those restaurants are new to us so I am sure it would be difficult to get tired of them in one trip.
3. Like you, I don't need much reason to party, but the Grand Opening party is something that is just hard to miss when you love what TTR was and want to ensure it continues as an amazing party place in its new form. And when you do anything wrong during the grand opening party... get too naked, bite a nipple, tbag someone because they shush you for partying too loud (I wouldn't really do that ), etc. you can always say 'Hey! It is the Grand Opening Party!' and all should be forgiven.
4. We love Octoberbreast and may even come back then. Not saying anything is wrong with going then. However, there is only 1 Grand Reopening party.
5. IF for some reason they don't open up then we fully expect to be moved to Desire at the price we paid at TTR
6. I heard a rumor that anyone who attends opening day will receive an honorary founding New TTR Member card that gives them access to the penthouse parties with the owners or a spanking on the Boobs Cruise from chinos. WIN WIN.

 

Kyle, all excellent points! My "worst case scenario" statement really has more to do with the personal timing with the kid and school, then it does with the resort itself.

But just to comment on some of your points:

1/2 - This was exactly what I was thinking when we booked. And I booked these dates when the resort was still open, because everyone going down for the closing party was really making me jealous that I wasn't able to be there, haha. (actually looked into just going for 3 days, but the airfare was just too much). So I was like I missed the closing party, don't want to miss the opening. And what if everything is ahead of schedule and it's fully open, operational, and sold out.
1/2 - Yeah I am probably over thinking everything not being opened as being detrimental, but realistically I miss dinner 50% of the time anyway, so it probably wouldn't be that bad. I just wouldn't like it if there are still a serious amount of maintenance crews and construction around and it takes away from the vibe.
3. What if this went the opposite way, where they end up being very strict that first week to set a mood that won't ultimately work, and then after a couple months it is more of what we are used to. I just have a fear that they will really try to keep us at bay when they have lots of special visitors that first week and they are trying to make an extra good impression. (not that I am that wild and crazy anyway,but I would hate to be put in a box)
4. Our vacation time is pretty limited, so I have to be pretty choosy And there are a few people in particular that are in the same boat with kids, school, and stuff, so it is tough for us to coordinate. But we are pretty sure that Sept/Oct will fly for all at this point.
5. Moving to Desire isn't a bad idea, but I don't know how they would work that with members. Also, I am not sure how well the full nude thing will fly/flop.
6. Haha, that's one hell of a rumor. The spanking on the cruise seems much more likely then me in one of the 2 owners suites.

So many variables, so many things to think about. I am trying not to over think it one way or the other and just wait and see how things play out. Last thing I want to do is get mentally committed to one period or the other, so if that just doesn't work out, we don't end up disappointed.

 

I didn't think about the possibility they would be stricter because of maybe upper management there for the opening and maybe travel agents checking out the new TTR? Unlikely but I guess possible. Even more reason then to have sex on the balcony so travel agents don't send the 'stiffs' to TTR. Have to set the tone from the start.

 

Yeah when we were there two trips ago it was the owners (his name is escaping me at the moment) 80th birthday or something. They setup this 100+ person table on the beach, and built a whole area over by the volleyball court where they had his party and a DJ. Obviously all that was off limits to the resort guests. That day security was stricter and the crazy poolside games where toned back significantly.

 

Doesn't sound like it was like that at all though with the closing party when the owners and upper management were there. If there are more rules then I am sure we will be entertained by finding new and creative ways to break them. I am pretty good at that.

Like for example, you can't get naked at the sexy pool but somehow it was acceptable to put a gummy worm on mr happy (or mrs happy) and have it licked off? Security thought that was funny as long as you were not doing it right in front of 'mr clean' (head of security).

And there will be so many new places to explore and things to try that if I don't get ridiculously trashed and remember some of it so I can write a good trip report for those that follow, then maybe that won't be so bad either.

I think there are some basics that must exist of course to make this all work. That might be a good new thread.

 

When we were there last, June 2016, the owners grandson was there with his friends/schoolmates and they were partying pretty hard.

Side note: We brought wife's sister (quite vanilla) on our vacation as a college graduation gift. She hung out with them and someone mistakenly told her (subsequently me) that she was liked by the owners son. I had dreams of free TTR on my mind!! It turned out to be one of his college classmates that liked her.

She was very shocked to see the other side of her sister.

 

Lol. I would of transitioned immediately into PIMP mode. Each win a free lobster dinner on the beach at a specific time (you pay and arrange it of course) they show up and bam magic. Worth the investment
