Thursday oct 9th Thursday oct 9th We had the routine down... Breakfast at 10 something, then cornhole, volleyball, lounging pool side, grilled seafood or steak for lunch, a water basketball game in the early afternoon, more lounging in the sun, water volleyball at 3:30, over to the jacuzzi to socialize close to 5, etc. We were not up to par with our usually socializing this visit having gotten in late day 1 at pearl after beer pong at TTR resulted in us being too intoxicated to do much, then having friends visit on pearl day 2, plus being a little worn out from the almost all nighter night 2 at Pearl and 4 nights of Octoberbreast at TTR. It wears on you and pearl provides plenty of opportunity to just lounge in luxury if you choose. However, we had already arranged for a Penthouse party on Thursday night. Penthouse party. For those who don't know or didn't read the May report of our trip to Pearl, if you have a Penthouse you can arrange to throw a party thru your butler. We did it twice in May and just had to do it again in October especially for our TTR friends that joined us this trip to try out Pearl. We started to spread the word and have our friends spread the word. The bigger the better as far as we were concerned. After all we had some catching up to do with the Pearl party crowd The balcony can easily fit 40+ and I think we got close to that amount. Jeff and Todd correct me if I am wrong on any of this as it is a little fuzzy. More on setting a party up. We talked to our butler who remembered the details of our party in May and we asked for the same deal. They went and talked to management and said yes. The deal was $200 for a full bar with bartender, a buffet with several items on the balcony, a speaker system for music and they even added colored flashing lights which they mounted on the roof. A friend in May paid them to add Jell-O shots and I did the same thing for the oct party. $25 additional for 100 or so Jell-O shots. Timing of the party was 7-10pm I believe. Now let's pause a second and put this in context. If you recall on Monday at ttr we had a toy exchange party in the cigar lounge for $20 a person, about 50 people, so cost was $1000. So $800 more for a shorter time and no food! Yes Desire is more expensive but the VALUE is better in my opinion. So the party itself was a hit. Great opportunity to socialize and meet people you otherwise hadn't been able to meet yet. Jeff thanks for bringing some fireball and of course the AIWC came out. Some body shots turned up the crazyness a little and I think a good time was had by all. No nakedness in the penthouse plunge pool this time but that is ok This was more like a meet n greet / mixer where our two parties in May everyone was more comfortable with each other already from partying for several days. Staff kept replenishing the alcohol and taking care of the guests non stop. I counted about 10-12 different staff that took care of the party in one way or another...setup, cleanup, food prep, bartending, lighting, music prep, bar replenishment and management. Just crazy. I tip 20-60 per staff (makes sense when u r only paying $200 for a kick ass party that you direct funds to where it should go, the great staff) and just ask the guests to take care of their bartender as if they were at a normal bar. Building the good relationship with the hotel and staff makes sure we can have future parties and the staff that works so hard really remembers you and wants to be there (for obviously reasons...$ and some naked hot ladies being primary lol). I have some great ideas for the May party (when we return next), thinking foam machine on the balcony? Well, it sounded great when drunk and partying but now I am imagining people getting blinded in the foam and walking right off the balcony. I do have the foam company contact info. We will see. They also promised me the discos stripper pole next time. Couldn't use it this night as it was the same night as the stripper show. Anyway, around 9:30-10 we all funneled out for the nightly show and some dancing in the disco and had a great night on the dance floor. The club at Desire pearl is more like a club in the true sense where I think of pattyo's as more of a lounge. Air conditioned, club music, flashing lights and plenty of sexiness on the dance floor. We closed down the club but decided it was a good night for some husband/wife alone time on the balcony under the stars so skipped the late night jacuzzi scene. Definitely a good day. I will try to add some pics of the disco/club later to provide a visual.
I don't mean this in a "my resort is better than yours" sort of way, because I haven't been enough anywhere to feel that ownership. Having said that this sounds to me what a typical day at GP is like. Laid back during the day, with great service, and more craziness at night. While there are times during the day, I wished there was more drinking and crazy activity going on, I do realize my limits to hang all day and night, so it's a nice compromise. For those that are "grower's and not shower's" ( I'm asking for a friend) what percentage of the men are naked? Not sure that would be a plus in our book. Is it very windy down there? That would be my biggest complaint of GP is the wind and surf always seem strong compared to what people say about Temptation.
Whew. I always get nervous when u respond to one of my posts lol but I am not offended by anything in this one (I kid mostly). I would average out our two weeks time at pearl as 80% of the guys naked? Some days I would go naked. Some days I would not. Whatever I feeled like and all except one moment in my entire time at Pearl did I feel 100% comfortable with my decision and not pressured in either direction. Once on the first trip I wore a suit into the jacuzzi and some ass said 'no suits in the jacuzzi' but I just ignored him or maybe said something about how ugly he was and how he should be wearing a parka, can't remember, but that was it. In the jacuzzi area the numbers are probably closer to 95% naked. As for ladies the % are a little lower, maybe 60% naked, 95% topless. Again more naked in the jacuzzi. And keep in mind no one is naked in the public areas like restaurants, lobby, etc. It is less in your face than you probably imagine. As for the wind, there were some windy days and some not windy. Didn't notice too much of a difference from TTR. They do have more beach trees and shrubbery to help block the wind but I think it may be slightly more windy than TTR due to the beach location. Never been to GP so can't compare. Hope that helps.
Kyle thanks so much for the continuation of the report and pics. Question: is room service abailable 24 hours per day? After 4 days w the shitshow we will likely not be up for breakfast before they close at 11. What time does the poolside lunch start? This sounds great and since mike won't be there to deliver us poolside pizza from the Tex Mex, it will make it easier to eat something around three when we need a hearty snack. Also, do most people retire too their rooms for a few hours before dinner like at TTR?
Room service is available 24 hours but as mentioned above there is a fee if you are not in a penthouse. Not sure if it was $10, $15 or $20. I believe the restaurant opens by the pool at noon and the grill usually opens about 1pm. There is always something available somewhere to eat. So if your timing is 3pm the restaurant might still be open or sometimes they have pizzas or quesadillas setup right outside for walk up or like you mention room service. Most people go to the jacuzzi from 5 to 6something or 7. Then go back to the room to rest a little, have 'fun' or change for dinner which is usually 8 something as the show starts at 9:30. We prefer the later dinners and would sometimes miss the show as a result. There are pizzas late night in the lobby also. Replaces the burger option at PattyO's for TTR comparison purposes.
Kyle and other Desire Pearl experts: does the resort have theme nights, and if so, where can we find this info?
A definite plus for Desire pearl is they have organized theme nights for every night of the week. So u don't need to rely on the forum. Better organization from a resort perspective. Of course a well organized CCC grouo can't be beat when it comes to theme nights but as u know there are many guests at TTR that know nothing about CCC. The negative is the resort gives no notification of theme night changes so on Saturday they might change the theme nights for next week. Frustrating when u plan for a kings and queens night and the week before it changes to neon. The other nights for our week remained as originally advertised so not the end of the world. Here is a link to the current themes and descriptions of each... Nightly Entertainment - Desire Pearl Resort & Spa Riviera Maya Clothing Optional Sanctuary in the Caribbean Here is the list... Monday • BARE AS YOU DARE Tuesday • Desire UNIVERSITY Wednesday • DESIRE MANSION Thursday • GLAMOROUS PARTY Friday • GLOW PARTY Saturday • EROTIC CIRCUS Sunday • MASQUERADE BALL
We are there for these 3 nights: Wednesday • DESIRE MANSION Thursday • GLAMOROUS PARTY Friday • GLOW PART Desire Mansion? WTF are you supposed to wear to that? I think I can figure out glamorous (serious dressup) and glow night.
