I maximise space for the outfits by reducing space! Ie, bikini tops that I never wear, day outfits that I only need for going for lunch as we rarely leave the resort, dinner outfits only worn for dinner... I start to say.... can I rewear a couple to save on weight and space? I match shoes to outfits, try to wear the heaviest on the plane.... If only I could get my husband to wear his kilt on the plane!!!!
I have panic bought a couple more dresses yesterday. Realised that since the renovation, most of the 'nicer' restaurants don't need reservations any more. Typically I'd only visit the reservation restaurants once or twice in a two week trip because I'm lazy and disorganised. Now that no reservations required, I guess I'll be dining at those places a bit more, and they typically require smarter clothes. A trick I use for the plane, wear a couple of layers of heaviest clothes at the check in at the airport, once they've weighed your bags and given you the boarding passes, you can take them off and keep in hand luggage. I also raid the Boots store at the airport and buy all the toiletries there. Means I'm way over hand luggage allowance, but since they've already weighed my bag, as long as it's not bursting at the seams they've never weighed it again at boarding. Tell the husband to wear the kilt at check in, but he can take it off after you get the boarding passes!
No chance of getting him to wear his kilt, even for the boarding passes! The only place he isn't self-conscious is Temptation... I tried to get him to wear his kilt for a recent concert we went to - no chance! He was afraid no-one else would have one on... turns out loads did!
