Anybody who knows me expects me to return from vacation with a good story. Well, the last trip was no exception. I'll spare everyone the details, but I wound up in the Isla Mujeres edition of Novedades on April 3, 2008. My emails written the the webmaster of their homepage have gone unreturned (it may be due to me poor Spanish). And I'm not nearly fluent enough to call.

Anyway, if anyone is on their way to Cancun soon, I would be forever indebted if you could track down the April 3, 2008 edition of Novedades. I would be more than happy to reimburse any expenses incurred not to mention a finder's fee on top of that. It really is something I'll be telling my grandkids about someday; I'd love to have the article as my memory fades.

Thanks and please PM me with any suggestions.

    Dustin

Short version: we were on the island and rented golf carts to get around. I tipped one over right in front of the policia and they held me as collateral until the next morning when the cart owner could come inspect it for damage. I sent 12 hours in a Mexican jail cell....and I got out less than 30 hours before my wedding! Ooops! I found out too late that I was in the paper (picture and everything). But Venom has a good idea, maybe I'll just have to book another trip to track a copy down myself....

    Dustin,

You might want to try posting in the Living In Cancun forum. Someone living in Cancun might be able to help out, or at least their Spanish might be a little better.

    Classic.

So what they hit you up for on damages??

I busted up a moped one year pretty bad in Playa del Carmen and they charged me only like $100 or $125 and I know for a fact you couldn't get even get half the parts to fix it for that price. :) I quickly gave them the money and adios. I thought for sure it was going to be $300 to $500.
