In the dozen trips I have taken to TTR, I have only been sick once and it was a doozy and really put me out of commission for almost 2 full days until a few friends went out and bought me the Zpak 3 pills, which killed whatever it was in about 4hrs. I didnt know what to make of it, since I had been so many times, although there was a bunch of us sick that trip, So im guessing that everyone being in close proximity and spreading the germs and god forbid just a few of those 1,000 glasses dont hit the cleaner in the sink.. It could be a thousand things, The resort does do a great job of trying to avoid any cleanliness issues with food, drinks, cups, water etc , but sometimes things can slip through the cracks (no pun intended) and spread like wild fire.

And never worry about bringing up the subject on this forum, thats why were all here is to helpm each other n find out abouit the good n the bad that hapens there
What Is A Z-pak Used To Treat? | LIVESTRONG.COM Im not sure if they got the zpack from across the street or down in town, but there is two kinds, one is a little weaker and comes in like a 5 or 6 pill pack and is cheaper or you can get the 3 pack, 1 pill a day for 3 days, its rather expensive down there ...not sure what it is up here, but its strong and when I say I was hurting, I literally had a comforter and pillow on the bathroom floor of my room, I had thrown up so much that I popped a blood vessel in my eye and was dizzy and just a mess, I took the first pill with a about a pint of water and fell asleep and woke up a few hours later and felt a little better, no dry heaves or anything right away... a few more hours of sleep and water and I was on the Boobs Cruise the next morning dancing and drinking and wearing a womans thong on the boat... So those pills were amazing to say the least lol
Over the past several years I have traveled a lot, air planes and hotels are germ factories. When I first started to travel I would get sick on nearly every trip, especially if it was to a place I have not been before. While there are the occasional media glorified outbreaks on cruise ships and what happened at Turks and Caicos earlier this year, rarely is there a problem with the resort itself. Instead what you have is people coming from all parts of the world with different viruses to which their body has build up a natural immunity to in a relativity close area, spending hours a day with each other. All it takes sometimes is someone cough in their hand, at breakfast and the next 50 people that touch the serving spoon, then their mouth have the chance to pick up something. The best thing you can do: -Take vitamins before your trip to build up your body's natural defense system -See your doctor, while I will typically get a script for cipro, he/she can look up what are the "hot viruses at the moment" in the area and may recommend something in addition. My doctor actually showed me his screen the last time and explained the top 5. -Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer before touching your hands to your mouth during meals. There is no magically cure, but a few things can go along way to ensure you are healthy during your trip. Also, I found that a shot of pepto at the first sign of stomach discomfort can go a long way. And if you have those symptoms, avoid the booze for at least 4 hours and drink lots of water.
Thanks. We are seasoned travellers as well and do everything you have mentioned but still seem to get hit. Last year a member while we were there suggested a rx called vermox but it is just for parasites I think.
Sometimes there is nothing you can do. 81 flights so far this year alone and I still have been nailed by a bug at least once. :aktion061: I do tend to get over them pretty quickly now though.
I do some travel, work and leisure, through out the year and I am a big believer in vitamins and supplements. One extra step that I take is to ALWAYS travel with non-odorous garlic capsules and I have one before every meal, just in case. Oregano oil will do the same thing, but I prefer the garlic - no potential spillages in the luggage with garlic capsules.
I have been in Cancun almost 100 days over the past 14 years, and I have never been sick. I don't eat healthy, don't take vitamins, don't take A-D pills, I drink way too much booze, and party like a rock star until all hours of the night. One thing I can say, however, is I always have a cover on my drink at the pool, and I don't eat the buffet for lunch or for dinner, only breakfast, and I watch them make my bacon, ham, and cheese omelette there every morning.
