Beverly We're going to TTR from the 14th thru the 23rd. Always book on a Tues. or Wed. if possible - Rates seem to be always cheaper. Even tho Sam's goes thru Expedia their rates are cheaper than Expedia in my experiences. Woody
I am sorry you didnt get what you expected for your money. I am sure I would be pissed too! Its a little funny that the most complained about thing at TTR (the food) you LOVED. At least THAT is a plus. You got your money worth on that end. And for what it is worth I LOVED the food in the specialty places and the buffet was usually ok. I do think the desserts could be better (but then I dont NEED dessert anyway!). One thing about the moldy/musty smell of the room. Most are like that in Mexico. It is just so humid there. We had tons of great sex despite that!!! I am surprised you didnt get bottled water though. When we were there in May we had a new one in the room even if we only took a sip from the last one every day (and I did most days as I take some meds before breakfast). They put it right next to the fridge it was only a liter but we never finished one anyway. I hope they dont change that, I like my meds with water in the morning. We paid *just* over 2,000 for a 10 night stay there (with our airfare too) and I think it was a pretty fair price for what we got. If you budget a minimum of 50 each per day for food on a vacation (and really where is that gonna happen?) That is 1,000 of it right there. Lets say 350 each for air. So then for a 10 night stay it was 300 bucks for the room (and drinks cause you KNOW I cant drink as much as you do there for the 50 bucks per day) so $30 bucks a night? To me that is more than fair. And the specialty restaurants to ME are worth 50 each person alone (at least the Italian one was!!!! YUMM....bacon wrapped shrimp!!!) so when you eat there at night you get breakfast and lunch (all you can eat) for FREE. I guess I break things down a bit to put it into perspective when thinking in terms of value. Maybe for YOU that doesnt seem like value but to ME it does. We can't get a Motel 6 here in MN (let alone in the lovely Carribean sea!!!!) for $30 a night. And I think our airfare was actually higher than $350 each... Like so many other posters here I do ALSO go for the people I meet and the fun, let loose times I have had there. That adds value into my already value priced vacation. We didnt meet ANYONE like we met at TTR on any other vaca. I agree with Xel Ha! It was sooo pretty! Hope you all find YOUR little piece of heaven!
We agree with H&D.... food was good, room was crap, and the staff did have it's mix of quality. The beach was poor but we knew that going in. The entertainment and grounds were not real impressive, but we feel we got what we paid for. What we were looking for, a sexy environment to let loose, we didn't really find, not a place for a romantic/couples vacation, and that was disappointing. H&D, the problem is the people that post on this board love the place, so you wont find many people that would agree with us. We didn't hate it, but would not go back.
I am sure if I tried hard enough I would find something I did not like about the place, but then I could say that about any place I have been. Those of us that like it go for the people, not the beaches or the rooms....we do not go to be entertained we are mostly the entertainment. It is a place you either like or do not like......those who like it come back year after year and enjoy it more each time.......talk about a place you could either love or hate.....Hedo...we spent about $5,000 for a room that was no better.....maybe worse.....the food was somewhat better the entainment was better.....the best being everyone was involved ......it too was about people and having fun....and the fun was way over the top....so for the price TTR gives you what you pay for. We also went to the Outter Banks last year for a long weekend and spent about $700 for a room, bought our own food.....found our own fun.....of course brought our own booze.
Actually...there are some of us that do not get drunk on a daily basis...the resort really got their money's worth out of me because I drank soda water most of my trip in May 08 and still managed to have a wonderful time. In August/September 08, I did get very drunk one night, but that was on the Friday night booze cruise. Other than that one time, I switched between having a drink and having 5 or 6 soda waters. That trip was the best time we've ever had at Temptation because we met up with some wonderful people and partied with them all week (Y'all know who you are!!!). H & D, you must have expected to get the reaction you've been getting to your post on this forum. Most of the people here LOVE Temptation just the way it is and consider the staff to be friends. Sure, we've had bad service on the very rare occasion at the bar, but not everyone can be exceptional. By the way, I totally agree with your view of Frederico at El Embarcadero (the buffet)...he is awesome, but so is Lucio & Alberto &...!!! Sorry you didn't get the service or amenities you were expecting, but I have to say...when we go there, we expect to have fun, we expect it won't be perfect and we expect we'll be going back!!! Cheers, Janice
Nice way of stating things. And it's nice to hear someone who wouldn't go back but thought they got what they paid for instead of having outragious expectations and you obviously still made the best of it.
tandm i read your post and your response, "H&D, the problem is the people that post on this board love the place, so you wont find many people that would agree with us. actually, i think that you would find a significant portion of people on this board (including me and t) agree with what h&d said about the resort. back when i worked for a living - i had a boss who told me after i had performed a great job (yet our client was still not happy with our efforts) - he said, "rob, sometimes it really does not matter how well you perform or how poorly you perform - sometimes the client just aint going to like what you did its all a matter of perception most of the people on this message board simply have a different perception of TTR - while they do recognize that the resort certainly has some issues - they dont throw out the baby with the bathwater
