I find myself wondering how building a second TTR in DR could be a good idea for Original Resorts. It's not going to help the occupancy at TTR Cancun to pull people further south and split the party.
I’m sure there are a lot of people (like us) that want to go to other places than Cancun from time to time and then have to book a different hotel to make that trip. I don’t think it’s taking away from what are normal trips would be to Cancun but just adding to what we already do.
There is no doubt DR is off a lot of people’s list for a long time, no matter how cheap. We used to go to Punta Cana and loved it. But we can vouch for the liquor issue...got drinks one of the days (and we always drink the same alcohol) and they tasted like pure turpentine. Previous drinks that day (and we had a lot) were fine.... maybe they thought we wouldn’t notice? Didn’t even finish the sips (though Heather was sick that night???). We chalked it up to the amount of drinks or the food but.......
Just think of how many are too sauced to not taste the difference and than do and end up very sick or worse yet very dead
The location of the DR hotel seams suspect to me. It looks like it is a significant distance from the airport and roads there are suspect. A Temptation in Punta Cana would be great (assuming they figure out how to not poison us). A hotel 2+ hours from the airport and an extra $100-200 in cab fares away seems much less cool.
Interesting. Didn’t realize it was so far away from everything else. Did get to see the models in the premier office when we visited in April. Thought those showed a really cool design. I know once it opens up it will remove a TTR Cancun trip for us especially since it is supposed to be a combo TTR / Desire. And have the best of both worlds in one place
Kyle, the key word in your post above is... "supposed." I am actually suppos-ing… (see what I did there? Eh?) that there will never actually BE a TTR in the DR. Also, isn't the DR really more of a East instead of South direction from Cancun? My Atlantic geography hints at such but I can't read latitude numbers.
