How awful. This is a very good reminder to watch what you accept to drink! I've been guilty of just taking drinks offered without checking first. Also, this is a good reminder that although not many people think of it in this way, alcohol is in itself a drug, and like all drugs it can react with your system in strange and unanticipated ways depending on other unknown variables. When I was a lot younger, one drinking session I was out with friends and went from slightly tipsy to the worrying behaviour described above very quickly after only a few drinks - nowhere near enough to get me in that state! My friends were worried and my parents were called, who promptly took me to hospital. They tested my blood alcohol level and it wasn't anywhere near high enough to be making me react how I was, so they tested me for all the typical drugs (inc. date rape drugs) that could do that to a person, and again everything came up negative. It was purely how my body had decided to react to the alcohol on that particular occasion.
