In Cancun the Fiesta Americana Condesa has the Governor's Suite, a corner unit with a wraparound terrace/balcony, with a jacuzzi outside on the terrace. Just south of Puerto Morelos is the El Dorado Royale. They have large in suite jacuzzies and a variety of room choices. This is a top of the line resort. I used to stay at the Fiesta Americana properties before moving here and I had a runaway weekend at El Dorado Royale last month. It was arranged by a friend who is a travel agent. Except I don't think that the Royal has an OUTDOOR jacuzzi, only indoor. Other than that small item, yes the Royal is dead on for what your friend is looking for. Where did they end up booking?
A few years ago we stayed at the Crown Paradise Club - in a Club Room overlooking the ocean. Very nice - large room and "sitting" area inside as well.
