Thanks Randy and Jim, the less we have to lug it around the better.

    Hello and welcome!!!

Sounds like you are on the right path, just some thoughts though:

    • The orange bracelets show that you're a cacuncare member, and might help you break the ice or meetup with people you have already been talking to on here. But depending on the time you go, it varies how many people you will see with them. They are effective, but not like a full bat signal.
    • Good move booking the private transfer. Luxury SUV sounds fancy. I usually just hitch a ride on a chicken truck.
    • Probably won't need a full hour at wallmart, but I am not sure what you are shopping for.
    • Buying booze at the duty free before you leave the states is your cheapest option. Many of them have everything you would need, and the bottles are normally cheaper and the larger 1L bottles. You are allowed to carry 3L per person into the country.
    • You can buy booze at the airport before you leave the checkpoint, or at the liquor store behind Walmart.
    • Not sure what booze you plan on bringing, most people just bring fireball. I used to bring Jager (they have it now). Some people bring better scotch/whiskey. But seriously the booze selection is pretty good, just make sure to order by name "Absolute and cranberry".
    • Bring bubba mugs (orange ones are sold on here if you really wanted to stand out) be sure to add your names to them.
    • Pack some stupid stuff you would never wear for theme nights. You will be drunk and think it was the best idea in the moment.
As others have said, book the Boobs Cruise ahead.

Get ready for a great time!

So maybe it depends on the alcohol but for my alcohol the duty free option is not the cheapest so that is a myth. Here is my comparison performed in July this year on grey goose.

1 liter at philly airport $40
1 liter in Mexico. Upper $40 something
750 ml at my suburban philly liquor store regularly $32 but frequently on sale for $28.

So don’t just automatically assume duty free is the best option. Maybe it is in some cases depending on your local options. But pretty sure buying in Mexico airport is the worst.

you can bring in up to 3 liters per person. We will have wine in suitcase for wine tasting and we usually get vodka, whiskey, a sipping something or whatever strikes our fancy to have in room while getting dressed for evening or after partying and inviting friends up for a drink. Buy duty free so it doesn't weigh down suitcases. On way back we have 2 empty carry ons that we load up with liquor at Mexican duty free airport. They say one liter per person. Our first time to do this we had 10 bottles and the agent just took the price of one bottle and multiplied x 10, cost us 10 bucks. So we did that a few times and then last 2 times they don't even ask how many bottles, just what is the cost of what you are bringing in. No duty was asked. So I guess it's all in luck of the draw.

The problem we had when we stopped at Walmart (several years back) was they didn’t have any in stock. We have been to other stores around Cancun and had trouble finding it. Absolute everywhere. I don’t want to spend my vacation searching for it.
