PA I was in Mazatlan and the vendors there were up your butt but in Cancun you'll get a few occasional vendors (shells, jewelery) but it was nothing like the train of vendors in Mazatlan. Like TJ says the hotel security will keep them moving along and they arent pushy unless you stop them to take a look at their wares. Usually just a shake of the head keeps them moving along. Hope you get better before your flight leaves. Take care. Gonzo I hope those Canadians beat your Flyers!! hehehe.
haha about the Habs-Flyers series. I'm actually cheering for one or the other because I like the Habs too. Just the thought of Mike Richards hoisting the Cup would make me a very happy woman. Back to Cancun, on Wednesday, I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy, so half of my face is slightly paralyzed. I'm coping with it the best I can but it's tough of the timing.
So sorry to hear about your diagnosis....I know several people with Bells Palsy.....one took 3 weeks to get pretty much back to normal...the other a few months.....whatever it may be for you....go and enjoy your trip.....don't let this be a factor in ruining a wonderful holiday. BTW, we are going the exact dates you are. I am a mom of 2 kids...if I was worried about crime...I would not go. Also, TTR is Temptation Resort (we are staying there)....adults only hotel . As far as the heat....bring it on! Cocktails, beach, pool, parties....new friends....doesn't matter what time of year, sounds wonderful! Enjoy your trip and here's to a speedy recovery for you!!!
Thanks for the 411 on the resort. Yeah I'm coping the best I can. It's kinda frustrating when your job wants you to stay home but what can you do.
Turn it around to a positive...you get an extended vacation....and are able to build up a tan before you go to Mexico!
Unless things have changed at JFK since March 23 (last time I flew JBU JFK to CUN), JetBlue arrivals (except int'l) and departures are from their own Terminal 5, even to Cancun. When you fly CUN to JFK, you go to the International Arrivals Terminal 4. The Airtrain is pretty convenient now at JFK, so meeting people at other terminals is not as hard as it used to be. Happy Travels! :aktion030:
I just got back from Cancun, was there 5/15-5/22 with my Dad. We both felt very safe and had no issues with any of the locals. Granted we were not out at 3am when everyone is wasted but we were out at night in the Hotel Zone (bars etc.) and there is nothing to worry about. The taxis and buses are safe as well, the locals are just on there going to work doing their thing not worried about picking a fight with a tourist just to do it. A lot of the media we see everyday in the USA is messing it up for certain parts of Mexico that really doesn't deserve it. Now I wouldn't recommend going downtown around 12am or later and just walking around trying to find something to get into (it's a little shady down there even the workers at the resorts were saying they don't go there at night). We went down to Market 28 during the day which is downtown and it is pretty shady but during the day you should be fine just get ready to say NO about 200 times (not unless you want to buy something at every shop). All in all I would say if you chill around the resort venture out to the Hotel Zone (bars, restuarants etc., downtown during the day) you should be just fine. Look at it this way there are 1,000's of other tourist doing the samething you are doing the same day so it makes you feel more comfortable and eases the mind some. Have fun and enjoy Cancun !!!!
PAGurl...I am so feeling you on the Flyers. Tomorrow night, they'll deliver another shut out, and we are in the Finals. WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT!!!!!!! I have been obsessed with Gagne for YEARS, and he has really shown up in the playoffs. I listen to the WIP broadcast, which I love since I get to hear voices that I LOVE. Not many hockey fans here, and most are Canadians, so I think it's safer for me to stay home and listen. Sorry to hear about your sickness, but use your vacation as a time to relax and get yourself better. Don't let it affect you!!!!! NCSURF..... I have to disagree with you BIG time about not going downtown at night. Yes Market 28 is not the place to be hanging out at night. Really there isn't much around there anyways. But ALOT of tourists and locals go to establishments on Ave Tulum and Ave Yachillan to eat and drink at all the amazing places. And it is COMPLETLY SAFE. Not sure who you talked to, but their info is wrong. A friend who posts to the boards just left the other day, and one night they stayed downtown til 4-4:30 am. To limit yourself to all the overpriced places in the HZ would be robbing yourself of better time downtown. I do agree with the rest of your post and I am glad you and your Dad had such a great time.
Came back last night and it was amazing. I did developed a cold because of the AC in the room but other than that, I just love it all.
