Been there last 4 years for NYE and already paid for 2012. It is a gr8 glitzy party. As Bart said. . . . big outdoor show, stage in sports pool, bar service and wait staff around sports pool. Gala buffet. Prime seating with bottle service for those with bucks. After show DJ for countdown. (wish it was a band).
Most ppl dress there best and almost a South Beach 'party like a Rock star' vibe.
Hotel management and owner's family are present, so service and staff are amped up.

Small anecdote, the Best moment of a NYE show over the years, was when Beyonce's shoes were too small and she could barely walk in them, and then she lost her boob in the pool. It just floated while she kept performing.

It is the most expensive week, therefore the crowd is a bit more upscale. Very respectful and classy, but ready to party hard with pizzaz. Approx 60% are regular NYE guests, and due to the holidays, there are more larger groups travelling together than most other weeks, So it can appear clicky, but really it is just long time resort buddies doing the annual groove.

And if you want to kick it up a notch, the Hotel Zone clubs are a short distance away. They pull out all the stops on NYE, but you have to expect massive crowds and traffic jam if you go there.

TTR is one of the best places to be on the continent for NYE. While your friends are doing the lame ass boring same old chinese food thing, or sad pathetic dinner and dance gig, you are partying with a cool classy crowd at the best resort in the world for adults.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY

Not intended as a negative review but just want to give another perspective seeing all the positive remarks.

Did NYE a 2 years ago and would not do it again.

Pros Good party Great crowd, excellent staff and food

Cons 1 The evening show was very amateurist and over sold

2Fire works were so small you could see the fire works from next door over theirs

3Huge con is the price, most expensive week to go there

4After paying almost double the price to be there for the NYE gala they have the nerve to charge you $100 for a Premium bottle of Vodka if you want a seat anywear near the stage.
5The Management staff and Family took over the Asian rest. and had the whole left side of the seating.
6There were kids at the event,, The management staff brought there kids .

7Weather sucks that time of year, the sun goes behind the buildings at 4;20.. At that time they did not have the pool heater going.

Bottom line the cool weather and high price did not compensate for the NYE show.
