Yeah, Cal.....but along with this goes the "train wreck". You KNOW you don't want to look at it.....but, you can't control yourself.
Curtis.... put her on this board and have have talk to the people here. I'm sure any fears she may have will be taken care of quickly. There really is nothing better to combat fear than information (wow that sounded prophetic). :daveandmo:
It is a wonderful experience, that said, I'd definitely say "set your expectations" as well - it is NOT a 5-star resort by any stretch of the imagination - about 3 stars at best - there aren't elevators in the builidngs, it's not on the prettiest part of the beach in Cancun, there aren't crashing waves, you can't walk for miles on the beach, etc. But it is fun as all hell - a place where you can relax, meet fantastic people, make friends you'll truly keep forever, etc. While you say now that you're not into the nudity/topless thing, we've seen example after example where when the wife of the couple sees how chill it is and that no one truly gives a shit, then off comes the top. And there are some that won't and that's all fine too. It is Spring Break for grownups ... and all the fun that goes with that. You looking for quiet elegance? Not the place. You want a rockin' good time in comfortable surroundings, it's perfect.
Have you actually been to a 3 star resort in the carribean?? LOL What might be considered 5 star home might not be 5 star down there but compared to other all-inclusive resorts, it is definitely more than a 3 star. Just my opinion though
Yeah, but you're not really going to "Mexico." You're going to a resort in Cancun. If you want real Mexico you can certainly go out and find it - but you can also just stay on the resort or in the hotel zone and never really feel like you've left the States. Seriously, if you or your wife are concerned about going to "another country," trust me, there is nothing exceptionally "foreign" about going to Cancun.
I'm presuming you're referring to my post - and I've been to a variety of resorts in Cancun/Riviera Maya area, Bahamas and Punta Cana DR over the years - 9 visits in total from the "5-star, really opulent" (Westin Camino Real, Royal Hideaway, Aventura Spa Resort) to the "VERY, VERY nice (Riu Palace Riviera Maya, Riu Palace Nassau, Bahamas, Hyatt Regency Cancun)" and yes, down to the "umm, this is sort of dodgy, but what the hell, we're here" (Barcelo Punta Cana, DR; Breezes in Nassau, Bahamas) - and I'd put what was the Blue Bay Getaway somewhere significantly below the Riu Palace but way above the "dodgy" places. How's that? 3 - 3.5 stars max.
Fair enough...everyone has their own opinion and that's what keeps these boards active I personally did not have one thing to complain about while there in April and thought it was a step above the "average" resort down south.
Exactly my point Woody! xo If you have the right people to party with and hang out nothing can ruin it! See you in 10 months and 12 days!!
