I wouldn't make a topic if I could have found the info elsewhere but I just wanted to know what is affected by the new smoking law. I have gathered that all the rooms and indoor restraunts / bars at TTR are non smoking but just wanted to know if anyone has an idea what the bars in town (Basic, Coco Bongos, Sr. Frogs etc) are doing.

I believe there is no smoking at any of the inside places. TTR has smoking at Patyo's and Diego bar. You can smoke on your balcony only, none of the restaurants.....

we went to Hard Rock, and Corona bar, Carlos and Charlies, and they were all non smoking...you could smoke outside only. Also there used to be a small bar in the airport you could have a smoke at if you purchased something, that is also gone.......

    hmmmm

I think I can deal with the NO smoking thing in Restaurants and indoor bars, as long as you can still smoke at the pool bars and stuff that is outside, I wonder if you can still smoke on the patio at Senor Frogs..

maybe u were lucky, I know last week when we were there, there were no ashtrays, and big signs that said no smoking inside, we just went right outside......

even in the resort I think it depends who is working......we asked for an ashtray for our balcony, and the maid left one out there, and 2 more in the room????? we usually dont smoke in the room anyway, it seems to linger...but I thought that was amusing...

Yeah the new law came in August 28th. As far as I know all restaurants, bars and clubs should now be non smoking - although some places are not enforcing it. They can have a smoking area but it has to be completely separate from the rest of the place i.e. separated by walls / doors etc not just a designated area, and most places are not set up for that.

I'd be very surprised if the law extended to hotel rooms though, I guess the no smoking in rooms is just a Temptation thing.

I smoked in my room and just used a bottle as my ashtray...nobody said a thing. Actually, I smoked where I wanted...I never saw any signs...

Come to think of it...I do that here also in the States! lol
