I doubt that $300 will be the number for non-members. If it was, then the referral rate (a 25% discount over rack rates) would be $235 - $1 less than the member rate. So, I would expect non-member rates to be closer to $400 making referral rates $300. The good news - that might make it easier to get people to use Referrals as they would save $700 for a weeks stay.
As a non-member couple, there is no way we're spending $400 a night for a crappy beach and supposed five star amenities (read as stuffy and pretentious) when a few miles away there are MANY places that have the same or better resorts for a lot less money. This is an excellent opportunity for an enterprising hotel owner with a half-full resort anywhere in the caribbean to welcome a lot of disgruntled, priced-out TTR lovers who are looking for a new place to party. Unfortunately the current TTR owners still don't realize that TTR isn't about the building, the beach, or the bacon, it's all about the PEOPLE, and they can easily go anywhere and create the same vibe. Airplanes go everywhere, and all we need is a place. A huge price increase to anything beyond $300 a night will make it even easier both for the guests being cast out like unwanted riff-raff, and for any other resort owner to take them in. We're a great group! We don't wreck the rooms like spring breakers, we aren't too demanding on the hotel for premium rooms, food, or alcohol, and we watch out for each other. All we require is a place to party and a little music and entertainment, and we even help with promotion through sites like this. What more could you ask for in a steady customer? Again, it's something the current owners still don't get. Maybe the next owners of TTR will see things differently. It's happened before.
Not sure how your contract works but our trip 23 May to 02 June this year was $148 / per couple / per night, room and AI included...no other fees at all. SO it is a pretty significant increase. A premier rep told us to our face that with our TW contract that the rate increase is limited to a max of 4% per year on the seasonal rates. Kinda figured something smelled bad...if it looks like shit and it tastes like shit there is a good chance it is shit.
I haven't gotten a letter, maybe just sent out a few to get a feel of what the reaction would be, if they stick to it, 500 complaints to the profecto all at once might change there minds.
We bought in December and were told exactly this, and then we were down there the same time as you and we met with them to go over our concerns with the news of the shutdown. Again they reiterated to us that we would only have an increase of 4% as per our contract. We realize that even with the new price increase it is still a reasonably priced resort, and of course we will be back because you can't beat the vibe/party especially for what we will be getting with the remodel… But the lies to our faces has us unhappy about it all. Also add another hundred dollars a night, doing two trips a year with all of our other little trips is going to be a stretch.
I wonder when they'll release just A.I. fee for the people that have those contracts?? Anyone hear any rumblings on what those might be??
We like you have issues with the lies...Why lie, I like to know when I am getting screwed, lol. Well at least normally I do . Jokes aside, with the CDN $ the way it is and the price increases two trips a year is out for us and even the length of 1 trip might have to curtailed as well. Once upon a time (2008 ish for a few years) 2 10 day trips a year was actually very affordable. That aside, Premier has NO loyalty, NO honesty and NO ethics / values to anyone when it comes to $'s. I am not naive but I do hope for some form of a kiss after getting screwed.
I posted this also on the Temptation community page ( ran by Steve) on Facebook yesterday. One of the premier salespeople is our friend on fb. She just started replying to a lot of the posts on there. Her last quote was the new member prices are 'way' cheaper than the normal prices.
It may be so but a large price increase to members way outside of what many of us were told (very recently) by Premier is still outrageous in itself. Premier just might price itself out of a niche market...unless that is their true intention. Me thinks getting screwed by a big dick or a huge dick is still just plain getting screwed...just might hurt more, lol.
