Thanks Rawkus. Somehow I missed your post before we left Cancun. I still haven't been able to find anything "Official" so I've sent an 'e' to the Mexican Consulate in Boston in hopes of getting something official. I also mentioned that someone may want to look into the economic impact of this new rule upon the many who spend half time in Mexico with their pets. I'll post if I get a response. I posted this on TA before I saw Rawkus' post: Since we both have medical issues, I guess the next step will be to see if we can qualify for Service or Support Animals so they can be "in cabin" with us. As my son said, one of them helped to keep me going through Chemo and radiation.... ETA: Love to have the "guy's" name so I could send him something about the loss of potential revenue.
This just made my heart sink. I WILL NEVER put my dog in cargo, and he goes back and forth with me when I fly. I am at a loss for words with tears on my face.
CancunMole: Check back home what it would require to be able to class them as "service dogs". Try to get that permit, then shove it in their faces next time they try any BS. Tori: Sorry bout the news, its complete crap. We send TONS of small dogs/cats in the cabin, that we pull off the streets or from shitty homes. They have always been traveling for free, so now those costs will be applied. Im still hoping that this is just a "stunt" from a cocky macho-dude, whom soon will be put in his place.
Rawkus: Is there any chance that the rescue group(s) that you work with might protest this "New Rule"? Maybe if this 'dude' gets enough push back and sees the negative impact on so many, he'd back off... Might be worth the effort. I know that once I get either his name or his Agency that I'll be writing. Tori: Believe me, I know what you're feeling. If we can't easily and safely bring our pups back and worth with us then what's the sense of having a place there in Cancun? I'm going to remain positive and hopeful that with enough backlash that this too will go away.
