If I was determined to leave the resort for a day...other than the Boobs Cruise (which is the ultimate no brainer must-do)...I'd walk down and take the ferry to Isla Mujeres (as others have suggested)...get in a golf cart and goof around all day stopping at any bar or restaurant that looks interesting...stop at the beach on the north side of the island...relax....shop if you want...and get on a ferry and back to the party. I've done Tulum - not my thing by a long shot, and I'm a history buff. There are just too many crazy fun things to do at TTR to take time out for an educational field trip with a box lunch.

Jamie has been to Xel Ha...and that actually would be something I might like on a hot day. Maybe some hungover day it'd be a good way to get away from the alcohol for a few hours.

I agree. Everything else is too far away, it takes you away from the resort for too long! We did a trip to Xel-Ha in 2012, but had to leave the hotel at 7am and didn't get back until around 8pm! WTF! It was good but not an entire day travelling good. Mujeres is good because it's a 'day away' but you can easily go across at 10am and be back in time for dinner.

We haven't been to Tulum but we would highly recommend Chichen Itza tour and like said it is a long day however worth it in our opinion.

We go to to Isla Mujeres every time this time we're spending 24th and 25th over there... mostly due to NO Rooms Available at TTR however the place is nice and laid back.

I would recommend Isla Mujeres as well because its small, its full of tourist but still have lots of native culture intact. Golf cart is a nice touch, its not too far away from the resort and you can come back any time you like.

Our first trip we went to Isla Mujeres for snorkeling, zip lining, and swimming with the dolphins. Really had a great time, especially the zip lining. Boobs Cruise is a must, every trip. Have Fun!! :aktion033:
