Thanks a lot Steve. That is a good idea. I will speak to hubby about it. I didn't realise how hard it is to find a place that allows dogs in Playa. That was basically the only place I have found so far that does. Maybe going door to door checking for signs will be better.
I dont know Playa very well, but here in Cancun almost everyone has dogs (except us) whether it be conjunto or private. All the places we've ever enquired about the "are dogs allowed" question has never been raised. I honestly think, that viewed from afar, you're seeing a skewed picture of possible living options. Most of the places you'll find online are aimed at tourists, they'll take long term rentals in a heartbeat (especially in low season) but really the tourist short term rental is the demographic they're looking for with prices to match. Come down and stay somewhere temporarily before commiting, I am sure you'll find a whole ton of new options you never could of found out about online.
Thanks all! Spoke to hubby about what Steve said and we will probably pay for a week at Croc condos and then pound the pavements looking for something since it sounds as though that is the way we will be able to find the best bang for our buck!
You both might to take a look here: Viva-Street Online Classifieds Gives you also a taste what places you can find there in your pricing range.
