My theory is that is has to do with blood type. I get a few bites a year, my SO gets them all the time in the summer. If you are susceptible to getting them, pack some spray JIC, if not - sweet! And I can confirm that high levels of blood in your alcohol stream acts as a fine deterrent to bug bites!! This has been carefully tested and proven by yours truly...
We just got back yesterday. I never got bit but my wife did numerous times. I also saw and talked to a few people with little welts all over them. So just a heads up they are there.
