Room Service 24-hour room service to all guests? When we were there in 2004, only the presidential suites had room service. That will be special.
Building Work I have Just received a letter from my travel agent informing me there is Building work currently being carried out the moon palace. This is an extension to the moon palace and is called the Moon Grand, the work will run until October 2006 Mon-Fri 8:30am to 6pm. I'm travelling out there in 3 weeks does anyone know how much disruption this is actually causing and whereabouts on the hotel ground it is.
I think I remember seeing a pic reflecting construction going on to the south, adjacent to the established parts of the MP. If how I interpret it is correct, the new construction will not interfere with the vacationers at the Nizuc and Sunrise.
I came back from MP on 2 June 2006 and what a fabulous place it is! There were 16 of us all together for my wedding and we all can't wait to go back for the reunion next year! We were a bit nervous on the drive up to the hotel as you could clearly see the devastation the hurricane caused and in the grounds around the hotel, but when we got to the lobby, everything was perfect. We stayed on the nizuc side and a few of our guests stayed on the sunrise side. Personally I preferred the nizuc side as you seemed to get served quicker in the lobby as there are not as many americans on the nizuc side and it is a little quieter. The hotel room was lovely. Our block was called bugambilia - we had a fantastic beach/sea view from our room and the block was a minute away from the pool and about 3 mins from the lobby. Our maid was fab and she must have made our bed/room up about three times per day! We also had a bottle each of tequila, bacardi, brandy and scotch in our room and they also re-filled them when they were running out without us asking. The food was fabulous, the booze was fabulous as they served proper vodka and Jack Daniels and not the cheap crap and the service was fabulous - I could not fault anything here even though, as my husband says, I am a fussy cow and a vegetarian! I made sure I went to every restaurant and all of them were great. I found that the chinese was better in the golf couse than in the sunrise side. I had my wedding reception in the brazilian restaurant and there were 23 all of us all together and the service was exceptional - never once did any of us have to ask for more champagne etc. Two of our guests who stayed on the sunrise side said that one day there was building work on their roof at about 10.30am, which they complained about as they were still in bed hungover. When they came back to the room later in the afternoon there was a bottle of red wine and a platter of cheese waiting for them to apologise for the noise. There is building work going on but this is at the very end of the nizuc side - you can tell as there is green fencing a short distance after the last block, but we never experienced any disruption from there whatsoever, nor did we see any construction vehicles. My wedding day was the best day of my life. I expected something to go wrong on the day (as you do!) but everything was perfect and I was so relaxed and chilled that I didn't panick about anything. I got married in the tucan gazebo, which is the one after the catholic chapel (the one with the glass and pews). I got married on the Monday and had the meeting with the wedding co-ordinator on the Friday. I was a bit nervous thinking "oh my god is that enough time to arrange everything", but everything was fine - I just picked my flowers, filled in some forms, had a blood test, told them what flavour cake I wanted, picked what type of photographs I wanted and hey ho I was married on Monday! The flowers were pefect, the horse was gorgeous, the cake was fab and my photos were out of this world - they only costs $215 (£116) and were better than my friend's photos and she paid £1,000 ($1,840) for hers! I know some people have mentioned timeshare people, but we never encountered anyone like that - the only thing we had was a note through the door telling us we could have 100 "palace dollars" for coming to some desk, but we just ignored it. Before we got married, me and my husband went for a "romantic massage" in the spa, which was lovely - I would definitely recommend it. The only thing I would moan about was that we booked to go on a bar crawl in Cancun with Thomas Cook and it was awful. We first went to Corona bar, which was an ok bar, but there little vodka in my vodka and coke. We then went to a bar called Charlies and something which was awful - we waited 30 minutes to get served and there was without a doubt no vodka in my vodka and coke! We were then supposed to go to Daddy Rock, but we all got a taxi home early and went to the disco in the hotel!! Am glad to read about the price quote for pics...maybe you can recall prices for other services that weren't part of the AI package? Less Americans at the Nizuc :lol: I might agree, as conventioners are usually booked at the Sunrise and my impression is that most are from the USA. I did run across the occasional "ugly American" at the Nizuc side on my own honeymoon, however. I also liked the Nizuc side for the cozier feeling (if that's possible for such a large resort). I see you posted about construction going on adjacent to the Nizuc, which the south end of the resort...any press or info regarding this new "Grand" section? Any pics?
Thanks! The price for the pics was for 36 6x4 photos and one large one in an album - they let you have them 1/2 days later with your marriage certificate and they are great quality. You can have bigger sizes or black/white etc as well. The cost of a day pass was $68 if it is your wedding day and $75 any other time with kids being half price. The pass runs from 7am to 11pm, but my guests stayed until gone 2am and were not rushed into going or anything. We also had to pay $99 for the blood test (which was done on the first floor of the lobby) and $30 for our marriage certificate to be translated into English. I also paid for a corsage for my bridesmaid which was $35 and a button hole for the best man which was $30, but if you wanted bridesmaid's bouquets, they started from around $70. Also I got my hair done which was only $30 and it stayed straight all day and night (usually it goes like an afro in the heat!). You just have to tell them that you want your hair washed as for some reason they try to avoid washing it! The only thing we heard about the construction was that it is for a new restaurant (the staff would rather talk about Mr Moon Palace!) and all you could see was green mesh and fencing, but that was only when you walked to the end of the nizuc side. Our travel agents wrote to us saying the indoor pool was being converted into a restaurant, but I don't know if this is the same thing?! I also seen the other palace hotels in cancun and they are being completely refurbished - they had no facias and barely any walls. I also seen the climbing wall they mentioned on the website - it looks good and there were a few people using it, but it is not something I would do. It is in between Sunrise and Nizuc by the beach where the pier (part of the pier is still washed away) and kayaks are. Anything else let me know Claire
Palace Members I have a non member question Not sure if anyone remembers me but I was suppost to be at the Moon Palace last Nov. That did not happen!! Well I will hopfully be there this Sept. If all goes as planned I am having a bit of trouble with our travel agent and trying to make sure our new trip has been booked. I guess I'm just double checking my agent! I called Palace resorts and they refused to give me any info. Not to mention they were very rude! B/C I was not a member. What gives? They did this last year. Is this normal? How can I check to see if I have been booked? Does the resort treat all non members like this or was it just the person I happened to get on the phone. I am really excited to go to the MP and do not want to get a sour taste in my mouth before I get there! Any info would be helpful Thanks
I never had to go that far, so I don't know. Did the TA give you something to serve as "confirmation" once you purchased your vacation?
The story! We were going to the MP Nov. 13-19 of 2005 for our honeymoom. My hubby had applied for a new job and the interview was on the 17th. We canceled our trip for the time being. We called to rescheduled our trip for Sept 9-15 over a month ago. We were told that everthing was fine and the agent would contact us with the price difference for the new trip. We have called them several times for the price and they keep putting us off. (The person handling our reservations was on vac. for almost 3 weeks ya right) Last night I called the airlines to see if we had been booked. We had not. I have all the info for our 1st trip but not the 2nd. I have no confirmation for the 2nd trip. I still have a credit for the airlines. So I will not loose that money. I'm just concered with the resort. Today I called MP and they would not give me any info. It is very up setting b/c we have spent almost 4000.00 total on our trip. With all the rescheduling. Which is our fault but it will be worth it in the end! I just didn't understand if this was standard for info not to be given out. If it is in our names than what is the problem? The resort has given me this info before for our 1st trip. It is not like I'm calling to get medical records or something!
Maybe they don't have your info yet. Some resorts get specific booking info identifying the names of people only the week or two prior to your arrival. I've seen that reported by folks booking through the larger agencies who have "blocks" of rooms reserved to sell. Can't say that's exactly whats happening here. :?
