Congratulations first of all. I too am going for my honeymoon on the 24th. I've been following this thread to see the reviews on the MP and finally decided to join. I've been a guest for too long. It seems like i've chosen a good place to go. I can't wait. I still have to call to confirm my reservations, so i dont know where which side my room will be on. I do have a questions for you veteran MP visitors:

Is there a recommended way to get from the airport to the MP? I booked my trip through orbitz and they have a shuttle for $40 for the both of us, roundtrip. Would i be ok to go this route or is it one of those shuttles that takes you everywhere? I dont know how much a taxi would be to the MP, comparable?

When i call to confirm my reservations, i should tell them it's my honeymoon right? This way i'll get that complimentary bottle of champagne or something? Anything else i should need to know before i call them?

I've never been out of the country before, except for a cruise last october. Never flown out of the country. I've heard it can be a hassle to have just your birth certificate and ID, cause that's what we're going with. Any thoughts on this? Our booking agent through Orbitz said we'd be perfectly fine. I know the new rules aren't in place yet, but does anyone know what i should expect?

Hi Watts, The MP is great & we will be going back next year. As for the transportation from the airport. Save the $40.00 & take a cab. When we arrived we had a shuttle booked from our agent. We sat with about 6 other people in a non airconditioned van for about an hour. They kept telling us they would leave shortly. But we waited & waited. Finally when we all threatend to take cabs they finaly left. Needless to say we took a cab back when we left. The ride is only about 15min & should only cost you about $18.00usd. $20.00 with a tip. This was the only issue with our vacation, & it was not a big deal, but I would recommend a cab.

New to the boards, been reading for a while...

Fly out to Cancun 7th May and have to say really looking forward to it after reading the good comments here....

The 2 questions I have are

    1. Is there a certain dress code for the hotel?

    2. The golf complex is there an extra charge and if so whats the fee?

    Cheers folks

    Question:

Should I book my tours before we go or when I get there?

For the hotel itself, there is no dress code, but people generally don't walk around in the elegant lobby buildings with wet swimsuits on. That marble (looking) floor can make things slippery. A couple of the restaurants have a dress code "casual elegance":

I think I wrote down what the dress code was earlier in the thread. If I run across it, I'll repost it here.

As far as golf goes, here's the page with all the info. Click on the left hand menu on that page for more details such as prices:

Book when you get there. You will be encouraged to visit one of the guest services desks in the lobby within an hour of your arrival. Guest services has all kinds of pamphlets of info and maps which you will find helpful to plan your holiday. Tours can be scheduled at that time, and guest services will let you know what tours run when (if there is a change from what you read on the official website). The freebies, def. schedule at the MP. For the "optional" tours, go price shopping...the 2x1 Entertainment Card and other deals may offer competitive rates.
