front desk i would have changed them out for 12 to 1 also. i think that's what the front desk rate is. going rate is 14.5 to 1. we brought 100 in singles and 100 in 5's and went thru most of it in 5 nights.
i prepay USA Transfers so I can always get out of the country. EVERY trip I have brough in excess of 500.00 ... EVERY TRIP I have taken half or more home. If you tip...set a budget and add 10% .. you really don't need more. Get the breakfast or lunch staff ...occasionally the bar staff to break you 20's or 50's into smaller bills ... Stick your wallet and passports in the safe in your room.... and party on. If you do leave the resort... you can probably pay with VISA unless you go to the mexican trinket markets ...even so... how much can you buy and after one or two trips...there is not much you want!
cash never had a problem cashing travelers checks--always make to copies - one with us and one at home- also a copy of passports--
