Personally, I am staying 10 days, I am bringing roughly 1000 in cash, and also bringing a debit/atm card incase I need more cash. Keep most of the cash in the room safe and take out just what I need each day. Works perfect! Exchange my money on a need basis at the hotels exchange center!! Thats how i do it.
I bring a couple hundred and take peso out from the ATM when I get there. ATMs use your bank' exchange rate so you get usually the best deal, especially when you have a no fee ATM card. Most exchange places charge you a huge premium over the exchange rate (just look at the spread between the buy/sell rate they use).
yeah good to budget 30-40 US bucks for entry to clubs, unless you buy the VIP pass. Budget to spend some money for tipping while at the clubs, and budget money for cab rides (max 12US bucks)/Bus rides (cheappp), then budget for that late night Dominos run!
