    Miss Tempation 2011

I hope we hear info soon from Mario. We are from Toronto and a round trip right now for Damon (my boyfriend) is about the same price as the entire all inclusive price itself... around $800. I get that it's still a better deal than paying for both of us to go back, but we are a little frustrated and concerned that it's going to end up costing a lot of money.
Cross our fingers it will work out smoothly.

    Same concerns

I will have the same problem booking Trevor's flight, it will be $800 or more, especially if they make us wait longer to book, the rates are only going up. So it will cost us quite a bit compared to other contestants to go, and I'm sure that if we said we were not going because of the cost, then they would just send someone else. Then the contest would just be about who could afford to go, not actual chosen winners. Still waiting for Mario's reply as well....

Has anyone else heard back from Mario other than his response of "we will figure it all out when the time comes"? I am concerend about the flight thing because if they are going to book the girls then there is a chance we will all end up with really crappy flights (connections, late times, etc.). For us the cost of booking his flight is not an issue yet because it is so early and we live close to three international airports, but for others this is looking like a big expense, which doesn't seem fair. I will say, however, the end of Mario's email did say the 2010 winner does get a bigger cash prize this year....

Thank you! I can't wait to meet everyone too!! I am really excited. As for the strategy-my husband emailed a basic message to all his friends and mine and then asked them to do the same. So the message ended up being sent/viewed by several hundred people. It made things easy :)

Hey twojays, congrats again on the win! We really look forward to meeting you, and are jealous that your victory was so simple!

Boy & Girl, no disrespect at all, but I am curious as to what part of their strategy you hadn't seen before. We emailed our friends asking them to vote, and asked them to pass it on to their friends too. It was the first thing we did. I would assume that strategy has been used by everyone who has ever won this competition, it's the first thing anyone would likely do. Nobody wins these competitions because they had the best answers or the best pictures...yes some votes will come from that but it's whoever can get the most people they know and/or can reach to actually vote. How did you guys win your month?

twojays was lucky that the other competitors didn't put up a fight, made it alot easier. For September the runner up had 138 votes, but in August the runner up had almost 1000 votes!! The competition in August was a stressful battle, but will be well worth it (minus the misunderstanding that both of our trips were going to be covered entirely).

Speaking of that, I was wondering if there is any winners from 2009 (Boy & Girl?) on here who went last year and know if it was handled differently? Did they cover the husbands/boyfriends too or did you have to deal with this issue?

Let me first say that I had not known or communicated with the September winner up until yesterday. I did however watch their online competition develop over the past few weeks. This was the first time that I have seen a contestant start off within the first day with well over 300 votes. To me, if I had been one of the other two contestants I would have taken this aggressive first jump in votes as message that stated:
    1. This girl is not to be messed with. She will do what it takes to win.
    and
    2. To even start to compete with her I would need to leverage every single friend I even have just to get to that first 300.

In my life experience, "we love that for which we suffer". Miss September was able to dissuade the other two girls before they even began. The other girls had no vested time or effort in winning yet.

Miss August, unfortunately you had a much tougher battle. You both became extremely vested in the competition and it became a challenge of will, creativity, and time/effort. (which by the way, I loved the writing on the back of the car)

In my opinion. Both of you deserve to win. I look forward to seeing you two in January and letting both of you tell me know if my casual observations are reality.

    NekkidSundays,

I know there are a few other winners from 2009 that post occasionally on here and maybe they will want to chime in too.

I assume that this years competition will be completely different from last years based on what happened there this past January. I have no idea what the changes will be until we get there in terms of competition, accommodations, or freebies. From what I have already heard through the grapevine there are a ton of changes in the air. Some changes are much better, others may not be as good. Last year however, our boyfriends/husbands/companions did not have to cover their own airfare.

PS. Send your guy the short drive down into the states and he can fly with us. It's looking around $500 from NY.
