It seems this is place where most people are going now.

    We'll be there Nov. 30th - Dec. 4th.

Sounds good. It's a big resort so when we get there I will see if we can pick a time and place to find you. Safe travels.

Well, just back from DR Riu Republica....our expectations were way too high!! This is far from what we're used to at TTR in all aspects.
It is a huge resort but food, service, party and crowd (very young and single) don't come close to TTR standards. Hope the new Miches will copy the Mexico style and vibe.
Don't get us wrong, we did enjoy our vacation. We did meet beautiful and great people who hopefully we'll see again soon, and we also gained about 5 lbs. The people we did meet were either TTR/Desire connoisseurs or ready for it, so we're sure they'll also get back to the good place.
In Riu's defense, it was about $1000 cheaper total but even there, our vaca time is too precious for us to wince at quarks that shouldn't be there.
For those who are considering this resort instead of TTR and would like to know more, you can contact us. It'll be our pleasure to share details.

    Great commentary on the Riu.
It's funny how people get addicted to some resorts. Our hometown BFs are addicted to a Riu in Cancun (the breakfast buffet is the reason I think). We know others that are addicted to the Excellence resorts. None have tried Temptation (couldn't handle it) and especially not Desire (all going to hell). (The Excellence crew believe their resort has a party atmosphere and is wild, .... they even have the silent disco night and white night).
Our BFs need to be sleeping by 10 pm at the Cancun Rui so they can be first in line for breakfast at 6 am., followed by a walk on the beach. They area always trying to get us to go with them but can't understand why we would be "board out of our gourd" at that resort. We joke that we could share a room, because we would be coming back at 5 am to get a few hours of sleep when they are leaving for the day. (WTF is breakfast anyway at TTR?, for us at TTR breakfast is some left over cold fries from room service the previous night and melted ice/crown from an insulated mug with coke to freshen it up from the refrigerator).
I feel bad for being critical, because all our vanilla friends love their vacations and their resorts. Admittingly.. the food at TTR is average at best and the rooms at Desire are uggh.
But..maybe the TTR/Desire addicts are the variance, not the norm. There are 100s of resorts in Mexico that cater to the guests going to sleep early for the breakfast buffet, but only a few (TTR, DRM, Pearl, and a ouple of au-natural) that I would even consider going to now.

We totally love rolling or crawling out of bed at 10 am (leave the shades open so we can wake up). Stumble around the room, tripping on a platform boot, getting a pasty and glitter stuck to you somewhere (usually not even your pasty or glitter). The wife having one fake eyelash still on. Most (OK...all) of our theme clothes on the balcony. used batteries and half opened new packs scattered in haste....its a great life.

    Just rambling....
