Hello folks. You guys are aware that Grand Miches have changed their poll policy right? The pool area is no longer au-naturel. Only the jacuzzi lounge and the playroom are. Just checked and confirmed on their website. For us it’s a big change. This is the main reason why we’ve chosen Grand Miches over its twin brother Temptation Miches. Please let us know your opinion over this. May be we can influence them to review this policy change, if this is a big issue for you too. Regards,
Hi, thanks for posting this. It comes as something of a surprise, and if true completely changes the whole point of the place. Our understanding was that Grand Miches was basically the equivalent of a Desire resort, and absolutely NOT a Temptation resort. We even asked at Pearl (when being sold on the new resort) why they called it Temptation Grand Miches if it was more like a Desire resort. They just dismissed it and said to think of it as Desire in all but name. Seems perhaps they called it Temptation for a good reason - topless optional for women is very different from clothing optional for all. Eagerly awaiting feedback from people there! Thank you.
So, Temptation Grand was going to be another Desire. It even showed on maps (google earth, etc) as Desire. Original had to change the name to Grand because the DR is very politically/socially .... Vanilla. "Desire" has too many "negative" connotations. There are forces at work here that go way beyond what we know. So I am just guessing then that the "au natural" change is also a result of the same political/societal/permitting pressure and requirements. The beach at the resort is a fairly busy public beach, close to Miches, which means families, games, etc...it is not isolated. Like Mexico, public nudity is prohibited, but unlike Mexico the DR authorities look like they have some teeth in the rules. I would be surprised if topless women from the resorts can go to the public beach.
We always knew the public beach wouldn't allow nudity, and that's fine. But banning nudity in all except for 2 small areas is NOT what was sold to us. I think you're right, perhaps they are scared of the reaction of the DR 'officials', but SURELY this was cleared beforehand? I mean, they knew the format they were trying to create, it's a cookie cutter exercise. If DR are being prudish then they should have said so up front. Perhaps they did and company thought they could get around it further down the line? Or perhaps the DR people have changed their minds, AFTER having benefited from millions of pounds of investment? Either way this is not good. The WHOLE POINT of the difference between the two resorts (apart from the luxury angle) was that Grand was clothing optional. I suppose one other possibility is that the 'official' line is that nudity is not allowed, but in practice the rule is not applied. Perhaps other users on here can provide feedback, and those currently at DRM or Pearl can get clarification. We are booked for next year and so are many we know - and we ALL thought it was clothing optional.
