For those who wish to share their feelings, can I ask why the guys are less inclined to participate in the more risque theme nights (i.e., Heaven and Hell, lingerie Night, etc.)? I have read many posts on CancunCare about women who were a bit wary about Temptation - only to lose all of their inhibitions once they got there. Many women claim that they were once shy and body conscious, and they ended up feeling empowered. I was going to try and participate in one or two of the theme nights, but I don't really want to stick out like a sore thumb either. LOL. Please help to enlighten me. Thanks.
What would you wear for lingerie night as a guy? Do guys even have lingerie? Heaven and Hell? PJ Night? On Lingerie Night I've often seen guys wearing comedy boxers / Y fronts. Superman Y fronts are not really my scene. But each to his own. I could probably do TBT or Mexican Night if I bought a costume. I can do white night and glow night - easy. The rest imho are more about the ladies looking sexy, and us guys are just mere accessories
They make men's lingerie. It's not necessarily called that, but it's made. I would say that we don't have nearly as many options as women, and the styles are pretty generic. I think it's more about the fabric and quality than anything. I think the same could be said about women's undergarments. A pair of cheap cotton panties from WalMart would probably not be considered women's lingerie. LOL. A similar cut made out of a different fabric from a store like Victoria's Secret might be categorized differently. That Y front stuff is marketed toward a homoerotic crowd - not saying there is anything wrong with that.
This year I was going to do something different and wear some of the square cut swim-shorts, however that didn't play out. Not because I didn't want to, but the ones my wife said I bought looked stupid. In my mind they didn't look stupid(kind of), and I am confident to wear whatever, so I asked her to elaborate because plenty of other guys wear the square cuts swimsuits. Apparently the ones I got were "too tight" and more like underwear. I said "isn't that the point". She said "yea if you are trying to be funny, but too much of your full package is exposed, and in my opinion they actually demasculinize you." Well that's all I needed to hear, so goodbye tight-ass square cuts. Later in the week I looked around the pool and spotted some other style square cuts that were looser; pointed them out and got confirmation that those are the type I should look for next time. So by day I wore board shorts (but not the really long ones), and a tank top. At night I mostly went to the sit-down restaurants for dinner; always wearing ironed dress shorts, an ironed short sleeved button down(normally 1/3rd open with a matching underwear tank up underneath), closed toed boater type shoes and a nice watch. The exceptions to this were when we went to "She" I wore a long sleeved button down with the sleeves cuffed a 1/3rd up. And when we just hit the buffet, because it was day one and were just taking dinner easy, I just had on nice mesh shorts and a nice tee shirt. For the theme nights: Glow - Short sleeved bright pink suit with matching pink tie PJ/ Sports - Eagles jersey Devil - Small gray sport briefs, form fitting black skull shirt, and devil horns (I had a red cape, but in my drunken state couldn't figure out how to put it on) Mexican - didn't make it out lingerie - Small black sport briefs, Batman tuxedo tee White - didn't make it out (but I had a white button down Decades - Strait out of philly black tee, gold chain, thick glasses, fedora Glow 2 - regular clothes (wanted to wear my suit again, but it stunk)
Did you get your squared shorts off of Amazon? A lot of that stuff comes from China, and their sizes are cut much smaller than those in the US. How many people (on average) participated in the themes each night? I'm going to try and participate the first two nights of my trip (Heaven and Hell, lingerie). For the remainder of my trip, I'm going to try and get "off the reservation".
Yeah they were from China. I knew that was the problem once I realized they probably shouldn't be that small. I'd say 25-35% of people participated on average. But again that was the first week. But the biggest nights were glow, lingerie and heaven and hell. They were more like 50%. I would 100% participate no matter if it was 1% or 100% of other people doing it. More want to dance, take pics and meet if you do.
I think the issue is one, the primary one--guys are more self conscious than we like to admit. You don't want to look ridiculous out there, especially if your the only guy doing it. On the flip side though, TTR is a different world; being that one standout can net you a lot of attention from the ladies who put in the effort. The second is just a lack of options, because in the "regular" world, being sexy is just something reserved for the ladies, there's not much put out there for guys. But the ladies at TTR are very vocal, that they want eye candy too. On a regular beach, a guy in shape in board shorts may fly; at TTR where the women are walking around topless and in micro bikini's--shirtless in board shorts doesn't count for much anymore lol. However there isn't much for us guys to get that show the goods like for women; so we have to get creative and most don't want to bother That's the way I see it.
