Jamie, I look at this way, sooner or later the renovation is going to happen. I doubt they will close the resort completely so we make the best of it. And the sooner it happens, the sooner we have a nice, shiny new playground to enjoy.
You're going to love it. And, if you can't wait that long Halloween is just 4 months away. You will quickly discover that 1 trip a year just won't feed the beast. We would go more often but it's expensive and a long trip from NorCal to Cancun so we just do two and make them count.

Airfare pricing is just crazy. We pay anywhere from $400 to $600 for our flights to Cancun out of SFO. We drive to San Francisco because it's the only airport in Nor Cal with a nonstop flight to CUN. We are flying out to Atlanta from Sacramento on July 15 to see our son graduate from AIT at Fort Benning. The tickets cost over $1100 a piece. His duty station is Hawaii and we can fly to Honolulu from Oakland for $420 r/t. How much sense does that make?
Crazy! I'm pricing airfare now ... we fly non stop ... round trip from Philly $700/pp ... round trip from Baltimore $600 ... round trip from Newark, NJ $550 ... we live closest to Philly but are willing to drive to others if the price is right. TTR Newbie! Going May 2016!
