Right I have had just about enough of this Job, Its soooo depressing and boring and I cant cope anymore. I need a new Job but don't have a clue what to do. I'm a qualified Electrician and Engineer but I don't want to do that anymore. So which what do you think I should do next?
I'm thinking of joining the Fire Service as it seems like an interesting Job or there are a few other options.

Think of something you're genuinely interested in (not just for the moment, but something you've always been interested in) and use that as a guide.

Make a list of the main things you're looking for out of a job - opportunity to travel (to Cancun ), variety of work/specialist work, meeting people, in office / out of office, working in a team/on your own, things like that and then see how that fits in witht the things you're thinking of doing.

That's how I decided to apply to uni and how I decided what I wanted to do. At the end of the day people have an average of 3 career changes in their life and considering you spend most of your life working (unless you win the lottery or make a mint) it might as well be doing something you enjoy.

    Craig Harkness, careers adviser

Is it just where you are that's getting you down as opposed to the actual job if that makes sense? Is it a case of if you stayed in engineering but moved company you'd be alright or are you totally sick of being an electrician/engineer?

I guess its abit of both, Mainly the place I guess as its just about the most depressing place in the world, But saying that there just isnt any money in Engineering down here (South West) So its either change the Vocation or Location :D

Mate I dont think there's alot in South East either! Or at least the Home Counties anymore!
My old man does that (electrical engineering(wireman), or electromechnical assembly)

Jobs are harder to find and hourly rates are not as good as they used to be!
