We go down early find our chairs and put our towels and things on them.. We then head to breakfast... Head to for a run... When we return we change into our suits and head to our chairs... We are there the entire day except when we are having lunch or getting a drink. If you choose to wait til 10 to go down and find a chair then you get what is left. This has happened to us and we felt absolutely no need to move anyone's things or sit on their chair. I guess manners prevail. We just wouldn't do that! We have only had it happen to us once when we went to do our restaurant reservations and someone took over our chairs (literally) and when we returned I gently put their things in the hot tub... Nawww... I didn't I just put their things on the pool deck....LOL Faye & Rick
I don't remember what trip it was, maybe Feb 09, but somebody threw every towel or personal belonging into the pool between 6 and 6:30 am. It seemed to have a buzzkill effect on the whole pool that day. Not cool.
I'll usually grab a couple of chairs early and then if friends come down we just share the couple that I was able to grab. Usually works out pretty good.:3some:
Reserving chairs/loungers early in the AM (6-7) seems to be the "norm" - The resorts we have visited all seem to share this unwritten "rule". I also agree that those reserving said chairs/loungers should actually plan on using them for the better part of the day, as we do. Yes, we'll leave the chairs while in the pool or while grabbing a drink but, by the same token, if we don't plan on using them we don't "reserve" them.
I actually look forward to getting up and going to get our chairs. It is so quiet and peaceful around the pool at 6 am. Sometimes I grab my coffee and sit in our chairs to read for a bit and then head back in to wake up Chris...we definitely use our chairs all day. We have been lucky and found chairs later in the day too....or we find someone to share with. If it is warm, you just have to have a place for your towel and such and then you just sit at the pool bar.
I cruise a lot and this is always a problem on the ships. It all comes down to location, location, location. It is not that there is not enough chairs, there is not enough space for chairs where all the "action" is and where a lot of people want to be. I feel that if you want a chair and are willing to get up and go down and reserve one it should be yours if you use it within a reasonable amount of time. The issue is what is a reasonable time. That is never going to make everyone happy. If you want to be where the action is an don't get a chair, stay in the pool, sit on the edge or stand and watch, or make friends with someone who has one and share. I would rather spend my time relaxing and having fun.
I agree. I enjoy that time of the day. I also rise about 5:30-6:00, save the chairs, get my coffee & mull around the grounds. I have met a lot of great people & had a lot of nice conversations from people all over the world @ that time of day. Note on the chairs: I save 4 chairs for our group that ranges from 8-12 people on any given trip. This way we have our 'location' reserved but aren't hogging the chairs. We take turns using them as some like to lay & sun, others are in the pool, others at the bar, others back @ the room for ........:69:. You get the picture.
I think saving chairs is just fine. I head down at 5:00 am and run laping all three pools then head to the gym to work weights for an hour, up for a shower and then breakfast........i am down there except for when i am doing weights and showering. Then we both head down to the pool grabbing breakfast and partying all day everyday at the pool until well after 5:00pm. We also have no problem sharing with people we know as well as most of our time is spent in the pool.unless putting lotion on , warming up and tanning for awhile. We have had people steal our chairs and towels. we have had people throw our stuff over the ledge and sit their asses down there. I just think we should all respect each others stuff......bottom line is if you want to sit pool side...be down early. If you want beach then it just doesn't matter. But I do agree that people shouldn't save a chair after they get back from the bar and then drag their asses out at 3:00pm. It's just a no win situation.
Jen is the same way - She's the "early bird". Last January in Jamaica she would arise at the crack of dawn, take our towels and reserve our chairs, go for her (too damn early for me) morning swim then come back and retreive her "other" half and we'd spend the day in/at the pool. Yes, we also saw those who would reserve chairs and virtually never use them - I can understand those who feel this to be an aggravation. And, for the record, we don't mind sharing chairs with those we know/meet. We're all there to have fun in the sun!
