    Hey everyone,
Just back from staying at the Royal Sands for 12 days - LOVED IT! While walking the beaches, we noticed a lot right next door to the beach palace (to the left as you're looking at the ocean) that has a partially demolished "mayan-looking" structure on it. It really looked interesting - any ideas on what it was/plan to rebuild, etc?

    Just curious.

    Thanks!

    lot next to beach palace

Looks like it is on the old Avalon property, according to the map. I can't remember if that hotel was restored. Boy, you were able to walk pretty far. Was the beach better than when I was at the Sands??? Joanne

    Hey Joanne,

Thanks for the info. If I ever hit the lottery, would love to buy that place and rehab it - would be fantastic!

We walked the beach every day - was a little tough in places due to quite a slope in spots. The beach in front of the Sands (Phase II) was great! There wasn't much of a beach in front of phase I tho. At one point if you walked south from Phase I there was no beach at all - the surf was breaking right against the sea wall at the property next door to the Sands. Heading north you could walk to a few lots past the Beach Palace before you ran out of beach.
