Wow. I didn't realize x3 is only 30 mins. We are a little tired of the 60-90 mins p90x but it works. Just have that burnout factor so we will need something new after this cycle. So you think 3 works just as well as the original but less time? Do you need any more equipment? We have the dumbbells and pull up bar. For us I guess it will be 3 or insanity next. I love the weights and have not been losing weight but am instead replacing fat with muscle. Jen doesn't need to lose weight but wants to gain muscle and tone so p90x has been a good option for both of us to do together.

We work out year round, but definitely kick it up a notch for TTR.

What we have changed the most though is our diets and supplementation. As long as our workouts are good, we see the most body changes when tweaking nutrition side of things. We eat about 7 meals a day, low cal over all, with a good balance of protein, carbs, and fats. The weekend we throw in a cheat here and there... I.e. Margaritas, but we will do less of that the closer we get.

Our pre TTR work outs are P90X focused, but with several modifications.

We add in an extra day of weight training, and I personally add more bench presses and rows than push ups and pull ups. Since we have a home gym, we aren't limited to the moves provided by Tony. We keep his pace though because it keeps us moving.

All and all, we are 31 days away and we are almost where we want to be physically. We'd love to drop a little more body fat, but staying focused at this stage is the hardest part..

Makes since. Thanks. One last question... Is the ab ripper DVD for 3 the same one they give you for 1? That is one of our biggest complaints. We don't think the ab workout for 1 is as good as some others we have tried.

I'm a trainer and fitness instructor and had taken a break from the field and it was a BAD idea! Without others to motivate, my motivation took a dive. That and we moved so had new neighbors and lots of get togethers. Our new thing is to remove the food and drinking from socializing. Socializing is about people - we all think people notice but 99.9% DON'T. Rome didn't even notice that I didn't eat or drink alcohol at one of the neighborhood get togethers. So, if he didn't notice, no one else was likely to have noticed!

I've also now started my own nutrition ed and fitness business so I can get back to motivating people. :) And we follow my business model - success is 70% nutrition, 30% fitness of mind and body. Rome eats what I give him lol

success is 70% nutrition, 30% fitness of mind and body. Couldn't agree more except in my opinion it is closer to 80/20. Working out is the easy part. Its the diet/nutrition that is hard!

Yeah, 80/20 is what a lot of articles go by. But I like the extra 10% for the mind :) Cause if you're mind ain't right, you ain't gonna eat right! lol
And I didn't want to do 70/20/10 as my business name. 70/30 Family Nutrition and Fitness has a much better ring lol (70/30 Fitness is what I actually call it for recall purposes, website, etc.) Plus my logo wouldn't look right and would be impossible to get printing done if I added another color! Hard enough with 4 (dude in the apple gets counted as a color if I want him to be white - I just realized he's "white" - hmmm...actually don't love that!)

I was debating on doing another round of P90X3 since I started with the classic...............might try the lean. Thanks for the advice on the other programs!! Did you build/tone muscle on Insanity??? Oh and you have convinced me to buy the additional X3 dvd with the AB ripper. I bought the pack without it cause I was used to Shaun T and didn't know if I would like Tony!

Yeah, that level of cardio makes it difficult to build muscle unless you are eating a TON of VERY clean calories. Even the "strength" parts of P90x or Insanity really are still cardio.

No feedback on the X3 since I've never heard of it. But you certainly can get a great workout in 30 minutes - longer than that at high intensity is what keeps you from being able to build muscle - again unless you are calorie loading with the right combinations of food. Now I have to figure out what X3 is so I know what other competition I have! lol
